03:25
http://www.kennethMD.com/ What is the difference between for-profit and nonprofit organizations? Below, I give you nine differences between a for-profit organization and a nonprofit organization. Creation: Nonprofits pay lower fees while for-profits pay higher creation fees. Goal: The goal of the Nonprofits is the greater good while for-profits’ goal is to make profit for the owners or shareholders. Business Activity: Both are businesses Profit Making: Both make profits Profit Distribution: Nonprofits don’t distribute profits while for-profits distribute profits to its owners or shareholders. Shares / Share Holder: Nonprofits don’t have or sell shares. For-profit organizations may have and sell shares. Ownership: Nonprofits are owned by the public while for-profit organizations are privately owned. Taxes: Nonprofits don’t pay taxes while for-profit organizations pay taxes. Dissolution: Nonprofits can’t sell property upon dissolution and must give it to a similar charity when it closes while for-profit organizations can sell their property and the profits go to the owners or shareholders. Those are the nine differences between for-profit and nonprofit organizations that I could come up with. Do you know any differences between for-profit and nonprofit organizations that I have forgotten? Please share below in the comment area.

What is NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION? What does NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION mean?

04:02
What is NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION? What does NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION mean? A nonprofit organization (NPO, also known as a non-business entity) is an organization the purpose of which is something other than making a profit. A nonprofit organization is often dedicated to furthering a particular social cause or advocating for a particular point of view. In economic terms, a nonprofit organization uses its surplus revenues to further achieve its purpose or mission, rather than distributing its surplus income to the organization's shareholders (or equivalents) as profit or dividends. This is known as the distribution constraint. The decision to adopt a nonprofit legal structure is one that will often have taxation implications, particularly where the nonprofit seeks income tax exemption, charitable status and so on. The terms nonprofit and not-for-profit are not consistently differentiated across jurisdictions. In layman's terms they are usually equivalent in concept, although in various jurisdictions there are accounting and legal differences. The nonprofit landscape is highly varied, although many people have come to associate NPOs with charitable organizations. Although charities do make up an often high profile or visible aspect of the sector, there are many other types of nonprofit organization. Overall, they tend to be either member-serving or community-serving. Member-serving organizations include mutual societies, cooperatives, trade unions, credit unions, industry associations, sports clubs, retired serviceman's clubs and peak bodies – organizations that benefit a particular group of people i.e. the members of the organization. Typically, community-serving organizations are focused on providing services to the community in general, either globally or locally: organizations delivering human services programs or projects, aid and development programs, medical research, education and health services, and so on. It could be argued many nonprofits sit across both camps, at least in terms of the impact they make. For example, the grassroots support group that provides a lifeline to those with a particular condition or disease could be deemed to be serving its members (by directly supporting them) and the broader community (through the provision of a service for fellow citizens). Many NPOs use the model of a double bottom line in that furthering their cause is more important than making a profit, though both are needed to ensure the organization's sustainability. Although NPOs are permitted to generate surplus revenues, they must be retained by the organization for its self-preservation, expansion, or plans. NPOs have controlling members or a board of directors. Many have paid staff including management, whereas others employ unpaid volunteers and executives who work with or without compensation (occasionally nominal). In some countries, where there is a token fee, in general it is used to meet legal requirements for establishing a contract between the executive and the organization. Designation as a nonprofit does not mean that the organization does not intend to make a profit, but rather that the organization has no 'owners' and that the funds realized in the operation of the organization will not be used to benefit any owners. The extent to which an NPO can generate surplus revenues may be constrained or use of surplus revenues may be restricted.

A non profit organization differs from a for profit business in a few key ways. First and foremost, a nonprofit organization must exist to help improve some cause. Examples of such causes can be to help a community, homelessness, nature, human rights, animal rights, or a number of other causes. The other thing that makes an nonprofit organization is the tax expemption they get from the IRS. Additionally, there are some restrictions about how a nonprofit must distribute its profit. If you are still wondering what is a nonprofit, feel welcome to comment in the comments section of this video, and discuss it there. Business Finances: Turnover vs Profit

07:31
Visit http://BusinessPuzzleAcademy.com/go/youtube to learn how to quickly turn around your business, profit more, work fewer hours and create a lifestyle you deserve. Business Finances: Turnover vs Profit There's a common misunderstanding of what is income versus profitability within business. In this video we cover the difference, the common thing that we see amongst business owners, and the wrong focus they've had when it comes to their goal setting of turnover and profitability. What is turnover, or what is sales? Turnover and sales is the money that's come into the business. It's the money that you've provided the good or a service. It's been sold to someone, and they've actually paid you. You might hear business owners say, I've had $500,000 turnover business. It means I've had $500,000 worth of sales in any given period. When it comes to the profitability, that's actually the income less the expense to make the income. It's the money left over at the end of the day. If a business is doing $1,000 worth of sales this week and it costs them $750 to do that, this week they made $250 profit. Do that over a month or a quarter or a year. When it comes to business owners, a lot go, hey, I did $300,000 this year. Next year I want to do $500,000. That's their goal. In our whole time, we've never met a business owner who has come to us and said, this year I have to make $100,000 profit. They've never given that attention where business goes. No matter what I've got to do in sales, I have to make $100,000 in profit this year. That's why business owners only break even or make small profits. Their mindset is not attune to how much profit they want to make in a year. Once they work out they want to make $100,000 and know it costs them $600,000 to actually make that $100,000 profit, then they know they've got to do $700,000 in turnover. Instead of working at the turnover to start with, they're actually working in reverse engineering everything. They're working at the profit before they even work at what sales have to be and become a profit driven business. We actually have someone who joined our program, and to begin with, they were all focused on making the sales and the prestige of doing certain jobs. They couldn't understand why they were not making any money. They were doing fantastic work and were working with some awesome clients out and doing some really good work, but they were making no money. It's because their focus was how can we make sales do really prestige work? The thing they forgot was how do we do some fantastic works for some fantastic clients and actually be profitable in the end of the day? It wasn't until they actually shifted their thinking and their mindset to be able to go, okay, how much profit do I actually want to make in this job? What's the profitability percentage for this job? And in the end of the day, the month, or the quarter, or the year, how much profit do I have to make within my business? And it might seem complex, but it was this shift in thinking that took this business from a $6,000 loss in one financial year to nine months making $30,000 in profit. It's because they started to still do the work they love, still do great work, they never compromised on the work, but the focus and intention was actually turning profit back to the business. And there was that shift in thinking to shift away from just sales to think about sales and profitability. They started picking and choosing which work they didn't do because if someone came to them and said, I want to do this. Can you do this work for us? They looked at it, quoted it up, and there was no margin in it. They didn't do the work, because what's the point in doing the work, and they're actually running for free? It's a bit like being a charity. They're doing the work for nothing and making no money. They're slaving their guts here, working 50-60 hours a week and making no money. And so it was a shift in thinking to still think about turnover but the focus and attention went to how do we do good quality work, but how do we be profitable in the work we do? And they made the decision on the percentage of profit per job they had to make, and they made that decision on how much profit do I have to return back to the business month in, month out within my business? So the main area is, remember, don't just focus on turnover. Make the decision of how much profit must be made in the business in every given period. Then reverse engineer it to be able to work out what's my sales I have to do from there. Then that gives sales targets and gives you focus on what leads have to come in to make that sales, to pay those bills out, to make the profit in the end of the day in the business. Can My Business Be a Nonprofit?

52:09
http://grantspace.org/tools/multimedia/webinars/can-my-business-be-a-nonprofit-2014-02-26 This recorded webinar presents questions and answers for startups to decide if their business-oriented idea can qualify for nonprofit public charity status. We have been getting a lot of questions along these lines: - I want to start a business selling widgets and donate 50-100% of proceeds to charity and/or for every widget sold, donate a widget to a developing country. Can/Should I form a nonprofit org? - I have a business that does XYZ services. I want to spend half of my time providing XYZ services to (name disadvantaged group here, e.g., seniors, low income, etc.). Can/Should I form a nonprofit org? - I want to start a business that employs disabled veterans. Can/Should I form a nonprofit org? - I'm making a film, art, educational software, invention, etc. with some commercial potential. Can it qualify for fiscal sponsorship? Each of these scenarios seemingly could fit within either a for-profit or a nonprofit model. So, what ARE the essential questions (and answers) you should ask yourself to decide if you should form a for-profit (albeit with social purposes), nonprofit, a nonprofit that is highly entrepreneurial, or some other type of organization? This webinar will provide answers and guidance on how to decide which route is best for your own goals and needs. Non-Profit Corporation Advantages -- 60 Second Business Tip

01:13
http://www.nchinc.com/ A non-profit corporation is a company or organization formed for purposes other than making a profit. Like standard for-profit corporations, non-profits provide limited liability protection. The personal assets of directors and officers typically cannot be used to satisfy the debts or liabilities of the non-profit. Non-profit corporations are formed pursuant to different state laws than standard for-profit corporations, but the process of forming a non-profit is very similar. Non-profit corporations offer several benefits such as: limited liability protection, access to grants, tax-exempt status and tax-deductible donations. For tax purposes, the non-profit corporation must be formed for religious, charitable, scientific, educational or literary purposes in order to claim the non-profit tax-exempt status. What is NONPROFIT CORPORATION? What does NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION mean?

03:37
What is NONPROFIT CORPORATION? What does NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION mean? NONPROFIT CORPORATION meaning - NONPROFIT CORPORATION definition - NONPROFIT CORPORATION explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A nonprofit corporation is any legal entity which has been incorporated under the law of its jurisdiction for purposes other than making profits for its owners or shareholders. Depending on the laws of the jurisdiction, a nonprofit corporation may seek official recognition as such, and may be taxed differently from for-profit corporations, and treated differently in other ways. A public-benefit nonprofit corporation is a type of nonprofit corporation chartered by a state government, and organized primarily or exclusively for social, educational, recreational or charitable purposes by like-minded citizens. Public-benefit nonprofit corporations are distinct in the law from mutual-benefit nonprofit corporations in that they are organized for the general public benefit, rather than for the interest of its members. They are also distinct in the law from religious corporations. A religious corporation is a nonprofit corporation organized to promote religious purposes. Often these types of corporations are recognized under the law on a subnational level, for instance by a state or province government. The government agency responsible for regulating such corporations is usually the official holder of records, for instance a state Secretary of State. Religious corporations are formed like all other nonprofit corporations by filing articles of incorporation with the state. Religious corporation articles need to have the standard tax exempt language the IRS requires. Religious corporations are subject to less rigorous state and federal filing and reporting requirements than many other tax-exempt organizations, such as mutual benefit nonprofit corporations, or public benefit nonprofit corporations. Depending on the state in which they are located, they may also be exempt from some of the inspections or regulations governing non-religious groups performing the same services. Religious corporations are permitted to designate a person to act in the capacity of corporation sole. A mutual-benefit nonprofit corporation or membership corporation, in the United States, is a type of nonprofit corporation chartered by a state government that exists to serve its members in ways other than obtaining and distributing profits to them. Therefore, it cannot obtain IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit status as a charitable organization. A mutual-benefit corporation can be non-profit or not-for-profit, but it still must pay regular corporate tax rates. A mutual benefit corporation will pay the same taxes as a regular for-profit corporation. (C corporation tax rates). Mutual benefit corporations must still file tax returns and pay income tax because they are not formed for a purpose that anyone in the world could benefit from. Mutual benefit corporations are formed for nonprofit purposes like managing a condo association, a downtown business district, or a homeowners association. A utility cooperative is an example of an MBNC.

HOW DOES A NONPROFIT MAINTAIN TAX EXEMPT STATUS?

05:14
THE STERLING FIRM TELEPHONE: (310) 498-2750 EMAIL: [email protected] WEBSITE: WWW.THESTERLINGFIRM.COM DISCLAIMER: Not legal advice. For informational purposes only. HOW DOES A NONPROFIT MAINTAIN TAX EXEMPT STATUS? Annual financial reports must be submitted to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. The board of directors should review the corporation’s annual IRS and State filings before submitted. Often, the nonprofit will retain an independent accountant to conduct a review of the organization’s financial statements and issue a report to the board of directors, which is a less expensive alternative to obtaining a complete audit. The nonprofit should hire a professional accountant to help implement a fiscal management system, addressing issues such as dual-signature requirement on bank accounts, regular review of monthly statements by the board, and an annual audit. The local chapter of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) or the California Board of Accountancy’s Clearinghouse for Volunteer Accounting Services (CVAS) may be contacted for information on accountants who may provide free services or reduced-cost services to nonprofits. Pursuant to California Government Code section 12586, referred to as the Nonprofit Integrity Act of 2004, a charitable organization with gross revenue of two-million dollars ($2,000,000.00 USD) or more must obtain independent audits and appoint an audit committee. The audited financial statements must be made available for inspection. At any time during the existence of the nonprofit organization, the IRS or the California Franchise Tax Board may audit the organization to determine tax liability, penalties, or revocation of tax-exempt status. INFORMATIONAL RETURNS: IRS FORM 990 AND CALIFORNIA FTB FORM 199/199N Public Charities must submit annual filings to the IRS, including IRS Form 990 or 990-EZ (Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax) and accompanying Schedule A within four-and-a-half (4 ½) months following the close of the organization’s tax year. This is the organization’s informational return stating its finances and activities. Certain organizations are exempt from this filing requirements, such as churches and organizations with annual gross receipts of $50,000.00 or less (except for Private Foundations). Rather, such organizations must file Form 990N, which is an annual electronic notice form. Private Foundations must file the more rigorous Form 990PF regardless of their gross receipts. The California equivalent for the annual exempt organization return is FTB Form 199 and 199N. UNRELATED BUSINESS INCOME TAX RETURNS: IRS FORM 990T AND CALIFORNIA FTB FORM 109 An organization that has annual gross incomes of one-thousand dollars ($1,000.00 USD) or more from unrelated trade or business activities must file IRS Form 990T Exempt Organization Business Income Tax Return in addition to the annual informational return. The unrelated business income will be taxed at the same rate as the standard corporation Federal income tax. Moreover, if the organization has a significant amount of unrelated business income, the IRS may determine that the organization is spending a substantial amount of time on non-exempt activities and investigate its tax exemption status. The California equivalent for the unrelated business income return is FTB Form 109. ADDITIONAL CALIFORNIA REQUIREMENTS In California, the Statement of Information by Domestic Nonprofit Corporation with a $20.00 fee must be submitted to the Secretary of State every two (2) years. Failure to comply will lead to penalty charges. In addition, every Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation must register the Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts within thirty (30) days of receiving its first assets. The initial registration form is Form CT-1. The corporation must file the Registration Renewal Fee Report Form RRF-1 with the registry every year. Nonprofit corporations with revenues of more than $25,000.00 during the preceding fiscal year must pay an annual registration fee based on a sliding scale. Also, all IRS Form 990, 990EZ, 990N, or 990PF, and schedules must be submitted to the Attorney General.

You can actually write off up to __% of your adjusted gross income! Find out exactly how much in this video. Toby Mathis with Anderson Business Advisors sharing my wisdom on on non-profits. This is a topic that's near and dear to my heart. I have a personal philosophy that basically states that if you're good at making money, you should be very generous and make sure that you're taking care of those who can't. I get this from something called The Gospel of Wealth that was written by Andrew Carnegie more than a hundred years ago, Where he basically stated that millionaires were the trustees of the poor. In other words, not that you just give money away but that you do good works with your money and help those that may be not as fortunate as you or maybe they're not as good at making money as you are. If you are good at making money, one of the best places to put it, is inside of your own non-profit. Nonprofit foundations or charitable organizations can also be a great legacy tool to make sure that your kids are taken care of because they always have a place to work. No better example than Milton Hershey, who in 1905 created the Hershey Trust, which established his charitable intent and manages his various charitable activities. What is CORPORATION? What does CORPORATION mean? CORPORATION meaning, definition & explanation

04:46
What is CORPORATION? What does CORPORATION mean? CORPORATION meaning - CORPORATION pronunciation - CORPORATION definition - CORPORATION explanation - How to pronounce CORPORATION? Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A corporation is a company or group of people authorized to act as a single entity (legally a person) and recognized as such in law. Early incorporated entities were established by charter (i.e. by an ad hoc act granted by a monarch or passed by a parliament or legislature). Most jurisdictions now allow the creation of new corporations through registration. Corporations come in many different types but are usually divided by the law of the jurisdiction where they are chartered into two kinds: by whether or not they can issue stock, or by whether or not they are for profit. Where local law distinguishes corporations by ability to issue stock, corporations allowed to do so are referred to as "stock corporations", ownership of the corporation is through stock, and owners of stock are referred to as "stockholders" or "shareholders." Corporations not allowed to issue stock are referred to as "non-stock" corporations; those who are considered the owners of the corporation are those who have obtained membership in the corporation, and are referred to as a "member" of the corporation. Corporations chartered in regions where they are distinguished by whether they are allowed to be for profit or not are referred to as "for profit" and "not-for-profit" corporations, respectively. There is some overlap between stock/non-stock and for profit/not-for-profit in that not-for-profit corporations are always non-stock as well. A for profit corporation is almost always a stock corporation, but some for profit corporations may choose to be non-stock. To simplify the explanation, whenever "Stockholder" or "Shareholder" is used in the rest of this article to refer to a stock corporation, it is presumed to mean the same as "member" for a non-profit corporation or for profit, non-stock corporation. Registered corporations have legal personality and are owned by shareholders whose liability is limited to their investment. Shareholders do not typically actively manage a corporation; shareholders instead elect or appoint a board of directors to control the corporation in a fiduciary capacity. In American English, the word corporation is most often used to describe large business corporations. In British English and in the Commonwealth countries, the term company is more widely used to describe the same sort of entity while the word corporation encompasses all incorporated entities. In American English, the word company can include entities such as partnerships that would not be referred to as companies in British English as they are not a separate legal entity. Despite not being individual human beings, corporations, as far as the law is concerned, are legal persons, and have many of the same rights and responsibilities as natural persons do. Corporations can exercise human rights against real individuals and the state, and they can themselves be responsible for human rights violations. Corporations can be "dissolved" either by statutory operation, order of court, or voluntary action on the part of shareholders. Insolvency may result in a form of corporate failure, when creditors force the liquidation and dissolution of the corporation under court order, but it most often results in a restructuring of corporate holdings. Corporations can even be convicted of criminal offenses, such as fraud and manslaughter. However, corporations are not considered living entities in the way that humans are. Late in the 19th century, a new form of company having the limited liability protections of a corporation, and the more favorable tax treatment of either a sole proprietorship or partnership was developed. While not a corporation, this new type of entity became very attractive as an alternative for corporations not needing to issue stock. In Germany, the organization was referred to as Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung or GmbH. In the last quarter of the 20th Century this new form of non-corporate organization became available in the United States and other countries, and was known as the limited liability company or LLC.

Can I use beats free for non profit use? | #AskAD 2

04:22
➤ Subscribe to My Channel here: http://goo.gl/afDj04 QOTD: Can I use beats I find online free for non profit use? This depends on the producer you are trying to download beats from. Usually producers will have some kind of free beat download initiative but always get their permission first and don't just stream-rip music from their YouTube channel or try to jack a beat from their website. Make sure that the producer is actually giving away free downloads and there is an official download link to do so. Always follow the producer's rules for using beats for free. That might entail subscribing to their newsletter, joining their website, or following them on social media. Always make sure you understand their free beat policy so you don't run the risk of being served a copyright strike. Just because a producer is giving away free downloads to their beats that doesn't mean you can record a song and sell it online, perform with it live or put it on the radio. Free beats are for non profit use only, which means you can record a song and give it away for free or have people stream it on sites like SoundCloud or YouTube. You can't put it on the radio, as that usually entails some sort of royalty payment, and you can't perform with it live as venues usually pay performance fees or have cover/drinks charges at the venue, which means the producer's music is being used in a monetized fashion (other people are benefiting financially). What you also can't do is upload a video or song to YouTube and monetize it with advertisements. In order to do that you need a Synchronization license. When in doubt, always talk to the producer about your intended use of their beats and get their blessing. Always give credit to the producer, whether that's in the song/video title, description, or anywhere else you can fit it. Let's flip the question on its head for a second; should producers give away free beats to artists? In my opinion yes you should, but only if you're getting something in return. For example, you could be asking an artist for their email address, you could ask them to register on your site, or you could ask them to follow you on Twitter or subscribe to your YouTube channel before downloading. Always look to get some sort of value out of giving something away for free. Otherwise you're just throwing away your hard work for nothing which doesn't serve anyone and waters down the entire music production industry which doesn't help you or anyone else. On the other hand, when I first started producing over a decade ago, giving out free beats really helped me to grow my brand awareness, network with musicians and build my future relationships with artists with a lot of potential and talent. For me, a lot of the artists I used to give free beats to, are now the same great recurring clients that are signed to indie and major labels and buy from me regularly. Some are also videomakers who now own huge YouTube channels or make feature films and TV shows using my beats. You can see that potentially there can be a lot of power in giving away something for free and you will get something back in the long term. So yes, give away beats for free, but make sure you get something in return! Subscribe to My Channel and post any questions you have under this video. I will do my best answer all of them for you.
