Changing money in the touristy areas of Thailand is very simple. There are many Exchange Booths around. Find the best deal as the rates vary and then change your notes for Thai Baht.... Use the biggest notes possible and also make sure they are as new as possible so as to make sure they will exchange them. All music in this video was created by myself using apple loops in Garageband and are therefore copyright free.

This is the first video in a new idea which I've had as someone who collects foreign currency. I've decided to kick start a new video series looking different currencies from around the world. This first video we'll be looking at the Thai Baht, a lovely South Eastern Asian currency which is among my favorites. Currency of the Kingdom of Thailand from the short reign of young King VIII to the recently deceased and revered King IX. Just as I am visiting now in mid 2018 they are starting to introduce new King X coins and bills which I have gotten in change at Family Mart and 7 Elevens, but not from the bank. I have not yet seen any King (Rama) X 1,000 baht or 500 baht notes, but have received King X two baht coins, five baht coins, twenty baht, fifty baht, and one hundred baht notes. They waited almost two years after King IX passed away before introducing these. I suspect that by the time I come back in 2019 the new Rama X coins and notes will have mostly replaced the Rama IX currency. At present though, you still usually get King IX coins and bills back as change and at the bank.

Vlog # 47 2.12.15 I Was in MBK Centre in Bangkok and after a nice lunch in the food court I went down to the 4th floor to get some money changed from English pounds into Thai baht. While I was in Pattaya I had a little trouble with this as notes with any writing on was not being accepted. So with this in mind I took all the notes with no writing on with me to get changed. I went to the desk and was told any notes with any marks at all would not be accepted. Even a fold mark was no good ! I could not believe what I was hearing. So after a short argument I went to another bank and they took all my notes and changed them !! WTF? So beware, any notes with any sort of marks, dirt, pen marks,rips,tears... anything apart from a brand new note was not being accepted at a lot of currency exchanges. Even though the thai notes I was given had all sorts of marks on them !

This is a video on the best place to change money in Bangkok. The best I know of unless there is something better on the black market I haven't been told about..... Stay away from the banks or their exchange booths especially at the airport. The best place to change money at suvarnabhumi airport is on the bottom level below the taxi rank at the entrance to the railway station. Here you will find various exchange booths with much better rates than the other on the uppper levels. Only change a minium of cash here as you will get even better rates in the city......... The main exchanges are Superrich Thailand, Superrich and Grande Superrich... There are some other exchanges around as well that will give better than bank rates. These paces are easy to find, just google it or download the app for your phone so you can stay up to date on the current rates..

I met up with top mate Ratty the other day who gave me a rather battered 20 baht note that he was given when exchanging money on a recent Thailand trip. So I thought I would warn you all again when trying to change sterling when in Thailand and what to watch out for. A few simple checks before you fly could save you time, hassle and money. Earlier this month the Thai baht fell to its lowest level against the US dollar for six years at 33 point seven five. The currency has continued to lose ground against the dollar because of dim economic forecasts for Thailand. Even much vaunted stock market gains earlier in the year have been wiped off share prices as the weak baht continued its fall and foreign investors pulled out of the Thai market. But a weak currency has also failed to boost exports as many hoped it would.
