Advanced C++: Resource Managing Class
This video talks about an important resource management pitfall in C++ 03 (C++ 11 is not discussed here). When you class owns another object by its pointer, you should either: a) define deep copying for copy constructor and assignment operator; b) delete copy constructor and assignment operator, and use clone() function. As Klemens kindly pointed out: at 5:40, the accessor is not needed as it is accessed only by the same class.

Yang Li: Service Fabric Cluster Resource Manager
The Service Fabric Cluster Resource Manager (CRM, not to be confused with Customer Relationship Management) is responsible for optimizing the placement and load balancing (PLB, not to be confused with network load balancing) of nodes inside a cluster. This is the part of Service Fabric where Simulated Annealing is done to optimize and balance the "heat" distribution among nodes (so, no node does too little work (cold) nor too much work (hot) - balance is important - it's really Zen). You first heard about our use of a metallurgical algorithm during the Gopal interview. This lead to the RAII (resource-acquisition is initialization) idiom that is essential for resource safety and less leakage. Some standard library classes already implement RAII for specific cases, such as heap-allocated pointers, mutex locking or file-I/O. While some "mis"-uses of unique_ptr are recommended as a general RAII wrapper, those uses sometimes fail to be general enough. This lead Andrew Sandoval to specify a unique resource wrapper for the standard libary in 2013 (N3677). This talk tells the story how the author helped shepherding that mechanism through at least 12 revisions to make it into the standard library, which might be achieved while CPPCon runs, or not yet (hopes are high). Implementing a RAII wrapper seems trivial, just implement a constructor and destructor, but doing so in generic ways is hard and tricky. It's only been a couple of days but I accomplished quite a lot and thought it was worth an upload. I created a resource manager to handle all the resources, you can notice the draw calls have reduced down to only 2 from 10+ yesterday which helps with performance. Added some more functionality to the way certain entities react which allowed me to create the health potion item easily and is paving the way for a decent loot system. Also updated the some sounds and map details. Although the tilemap stuff is just temporary for now.

OpenGL test with deferred lighting
This is a program I wrote in c++ which uses sfml to create a window and loading textures, assimp to import meshes, glew and glut and of course opengl. Features: -many different meshfiles supported thanks assimp -deferred shading; for that I needed: -shaders -mrt(multiple render targets)/render to texture -resourcemanager, which reuses resources (meshes/textures/...) if possible and removes them from memory if no longer needed. (-crossplatform; I have not tested this one but I only use crossplatform libs and my code should be crossplatform, too) There is only one light yet (hardcoded into shader) but I'm happy I got so far (in less than three days). And I know it's a bit to shiny... but shinynes is also hardcoded yet. This will be changed.
