Reading Feature Articles

13:47
Lesson three focuses on the feature article and the characteristics that make it different from other types of articles found in newspapers. The journalists and editors interviewed in this lesson emphasise that feature articles, while still based on fact, are longer and more expressive. The journalists also indicate how this has an impact on the style of the articles and the kind of subject matter that is suitable. This reiterates for the learners that the newspaper is made up of a variety of texts written with different intentions and different readers in mind. After viewing this lesson, you may want to get learners to read a range of feature articles and write a feature article on a topic of their own choice. This could be used as a writing task for the learner's portfolio.

10 Body Features Only 5% of People Have

11:06
All people in the world are different, and every one is unique. And yet some of us have rare features that occur in only a few percents of humans. Do you know anybody whose bones are harder than concrete? We are going to tell you about the most unusual and mind-blowing characteristics only a few people have. Some are just nice physical features, but there are those Superman himself would envy! TIMESTAMPS Incredibly dense bones 1:02 "Golden" blood 2:01 Long palmar muscle 2:50 Genetic chimerism 3:40 Double lash line 5:00 A hole near the ear 5:45 Additional ribs 6:29 Ability to perceive "invisible" colors 7:21 Small need for sleep 8:37 The impossibility of cholesterol growth 9:40 SUMMARY - Studying the gene LRP5 (responsible for the mineralization of bones), scientists discovered mutations which cause diseases accompanied by bone fragility. Yet there is another type of LRP5 mutation: it gives a person super dense bones that are almost impossible to break and skin that is less prone to aging. Such bones are several times tougher than those of an average person. - On the surface of every red blood cell, people typically have about 342 antigens, 160 of which can be found in almost everybody. If a person has a lack of at least one of these antigens, their blood is rare. - A recent study has shown that 16 percent of people don't have this thin tendon. It is too weak to affect your grip, and even if it is cut, it won't make any visible changes. - Human chimerism is an additional set of DNA. Sometimes it appears in the form of "mosaic" skin or heterochromia, but most often it remains unnoticed. - Distichiasis usually doesn't bring any inconvenience. People with this unusual feature may have just several sparse hairs growing on one lid or full lines of lashes doubling the ones everybody has. - A hole near the ear is a congenital auricular fistula, formed during fetal development, occurring in about 5% of people. In fact, in the USA less than 1 percent of people have them, in Asia and some parts of Africa this figure is higher - from 5 to 10 percent. - Every adult out of 500 individuals has an extra rib. While all the other people have two dozens, these "lucky" ones can have 25 or even 26 ribs in their body. "Excessive" ribs are more often found in women. - With a dandelion, we describe its color as yellow. A tetrachromatic person will see a whole range of shades. This condition is caused by the mutations in the X chromosome. This difference allows people to see up to 99 million colors, while an ordinary person perceives not more than 1 million. - The DEC2 gene is a small mutation found in low-sleep people. Scientists from the University of California concluded that people with the DEC2 mutation could perform all the same tasks in less time. Can you imagine, having just 4 hours of sleep daily, you will get 60 days of free time a year! - There's a tiny group of lucky people who can eat almost anything without worrying about cholesterol. Their risk of developing heart disease is reduced by as much as 90%. While an average American is straining to reach a perfect result of fewer than 100 milligrams of "bad cholesterol" per deciliter of blood, people with this mutation have about 15! Scientists consider the lips to be one of the most important features to pay attention to when trying to determine a person’s character. We express our thoughts verbally and in so doing reveal something of our character and psychological peculiarities. That’s why we've decided to take a closer look at the shape of people’s lips and check how accurately they reflect an individual’s personality traits. Let's check how accurately the shape of people's lips reflects an individual’s personality traits. They just like it that way. They’re also self-reliant and can cope with any problem. - If your upper lip has a sharp philtrum, you're 100% creative down to their fingertips. These people often end up being talented artists and musicians. - If your upper lip has no philtrum, you are the most responsible and reliable on the planet. “Get it done even if it hurts” is your motto. - People with small puffy lips are often coquettish and mischievous. 7 Curious Facts Your Appearance Says About You

08:39
Research continues to show that our appearance can say a lot about our personality and lifestyle. Let’s find out what exactly your facial features can say about you. Psychologist and neuroscientist Dr. Keith Welker studied the facial structure of around 1,000 World Cup soccer players and found that a player’s facial width-to-height ratio was closely connected to the number of goals he scored. The higher the number, the more competent a person is. Your wrinkles tell the story of your life. There are certain muscles that work every time you smile, cry, frown, or raise your brows. After some time, they get used to particular emotions and “draw” them on your face, making them visible even when your face is resting. There's a slight differentiation between genders when it comes to picking “the good side”. Women tend to turn to the camera with their left side. Researches believe that this is because the left part of our face is controlled by the right hemisphere of our brain, which is responsible for our emotions. That's why it seems way more attractive. In 2015 a group of scientists analyzed 123 selfies taken from Sina Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site sort of like Twitter. The researchers found a fascinating connection between types of selfies and people's personalities. Selfie takers with the infamous duck face and high angle tend to be neurotic. People who are friendlier and more open to new experiences tend to use the bottom-up approach while taking selfies. Have you ever noticed how identical twins start to look less and less alike as they get older? You can have the best genes ever, but the lifestyle you lead will still affect your appearance. A crease on your forehead between your eyebrows suggests a completely different story. -Engineers, mathematicians, and chemists usually pose with their right side to the camera, while art critics and psychologists prefer their left side. -People who are friendlier and more open to new experiences tend to use the bottom-up approach while taking selfies. -The bigger a person's nose, the more ambitious they are. -Your bad habits are slowly being imprinted right on your face. -Beautiful people might seem way friendlier than they really are. Those with a round face and big eyes are often seen as naive, genuine, and kind. 08:26

It's no wonder that in recent years WhatsApp became a huge part of our lives – it's convenient, quick and easy to use. Pretty much everyone has a large WhatsApp contact list and spend hours each day to catch up with their families, friends or plan some events! TIMESTAMPS How to change the font on WhatsApp 0:35 How to change font style on WhatsApp 1:04 Most popular contacts on WhatsApp 1:36 Muting group chats 2:03 How to make personal information private 2:33 Stop auto-saving 3:07 How to add dates to the calendar 3:35 Add a chat link to your home screen 4:01 How to send a message using Siri 4:28 Back your chat messages 4:53 Send a giant beating heart 5:27 Star the messages 5:49 How to secretly read messages 6:20 How to disable previews 7:03 Find out the exact time someone has read your text 7:33 SUMMARY - Just simply put this ` symbol three times before and after your text message! Like this, ` ` ` Hello!` ` `. - For bold messages, you have to put asterisks before and after your message (*Hello!*). You can send italics messages by adding underscores (_Hello!_). And your message can also be transformed to strikethrough by using tildes (~Hello!~). Plus, you can combine these styles by putting two or even all three symbols together (_~*Hello!*~_). - This works only on iOS devices. You can do that by heading to Settings and then picking Account and Storage Usage. You'll see the list of all your WhatsApp contacts and groups as well as the total number of messages you've sent and received for each one of them! - If there is some group chat or a person that's constantly bothering you with endless messages, you can simply mute it. Just pick the chat, click on its name or the name of the contact on top of the screen and select mute. You'll have an option to mute it for 8 hours, a week or even a year! - Go to Settings, then click Account and select Privacy. Here you can control what users will see your profile picture, status and last time you were seen on WhatsApp. - If you're sick and tired of constantly deleting unnecessary photos that your contacts message you, you can turn the auto-saving off. Again, go to Settings, then select Chats and turn off Save Incoming Media. - If you type a certain date in your message, it will appear as a hyperlink. If you tap on it, you'll be given an option to create an event in your calendar. So you can simply plan some adventures with your friends, work meetings or any other important events right from your WhatsApp. - If you're texting somebody pretty much all day or have a favorite chat that you need quick access to, you can easily add a link to it to your home screen. This works for Android devices. All you need to do is tap and hold on a chat and then click on three vertical dots on the top right of your screen and choose Add Conversation Shortcut. - Just say “Hey, Siri, send a WhatsApp to” and name the contact needed. - If you like to read old messages and get nostalgic from time to time, you can always back your history up on iCloud (for iPhone users) or Google Drive (for Android). If you have an iPhone and you want to back up a certain chat, just click on its name, then on the name of the contact and you'll see an option E-mail conversation. - If you want to express your feelings for someone in a whole other dimension, just send a red heart alone without any other emojis or words. You may think it's nothing much, but amazingly enough, it turns into a big beating heart. - For iOS users, there is a simple solution. Just double tap on a message and select the star icon. - When you receive a message don't open it right away and dismiss all the notifications. Then, set your phone on airline mode that will turn your Wi-Fi or Internet connection off. After that just open your app and read the text. - . WhatsApp thought about that and allowed its users to disable those little previews. To do so, you have to go to Settings, click Notifications and there you'll see the option Disable Show Preview. - Hold on any of your messages you're interested in and choose Info. There you'll see the time your message was sent and also the time it was read. Which one of these features did you like the most? Did you know about some of them? 10 Mistakes Lots of People Make When Buying a New Car

07:49
According to statistics, most drivers change their car once every six years, which is a pretty long period of time. To take the best out of your car in those six years, to save money and to avoid constant repairing, you’d better avoid ten mistakes many of us make when buying a car. One day you’ll probably decide to sell your car. That’s why you have to consider some important features. According to Paint supplier PPG Industries, white is the most popular car color in the US with 35 percent of all sold vehicles. It is followed by black with 17 percent, and silver and gray that both got a 12 percent popularity. In case you want to purchase some good old German luxury brands such as BMW or Mercedes-Benz, you have to be prepared to pay around $17,800 and $12,900 for ten years of maintenance accordingly. US popular brand Cadillac comes next with an average $12,500 maintenance cost for the same period of time. Additional airbags, a passenger sensing system that can tell the size of the person in the seat and save smaller children in case of a crash, auto-dimming mirrors to reduce the glare coming from headlights at night, head restraints and ABS are some of the things you don’t want to save money at. Make a check-list of features you need to check and think of where you’ll be driving your new vehicle. Try driving on the highway and park in uncomfortable conditions if that’s what you know you’ll have to do in the future. Examine everything to help yourself make the right decision. Don’t be afraid to miss “the deal of a lifetime.” You must have noticed those come up now and then, so you shouldn’t let them pressure you into making a wrong financial decision that will affect your budget for years. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS You don’t think about resale value. 0:32 Car maintenance can be expensive. 1:46 You pay for optional items. 2:50 You buy a brand new car. 3:33 You buy a car that is too big or too small. 4:03 You can’t choose between car’s prestige and technical characteristics. 4:34 You don’t examine the car. 5:19 You miss advantageous offers and discounts. 6:08 You don’t try to lower the price. 6:30 You’re in a hurry. 6:51 SUMMARY -First, the car brand matters: there are brands that are more or less popular among drivers. Second, you need to think about the vehicle specifications and the engine. Third, don’t forget about its color. -Think of how much of your family budget car maintenance can make, and decide if you want to spend that much on your vehicle after you’ve purchased it. -Some drivers don’t smoke inside their cars. In this case, they don’t need an ashtray. An additional corrosion treatment is useless as well because cars already have an anti-corrosion treatment. -The best choice is a car model that is no more than three years old and already well-known. -Try to predict how many times you’re going to travel by car, how many passengers will be there, and so on. -A premium class car will give you better safety, high performance and increased comfort their manufacturers guarantee. -Gather as much information as possible at reliable websites and among your friends, consult an independent specialist, and test drive your chosen car. -The best time to buy a car starts in December and reaches its peak in March. -Try to call or send emails to different dealerships saying you have a better offer and asking if they can beat it. -Spend enough time to gather information, consulting specialists, and weighing the pros and cons. How to write a basic paragraph

07:07
http://www.engvid.com/ A writing lesson for absolute beginners! Here are four very basic rules you must follow when writing simple paragraphs. Learn the basics -- capitals, indentation, line spacing, and more. Then take the quiz: http://www.engvid.com/how-to-write-a-basic-paragraph/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. Do you know how to write a basic paragraph? This is not only for ESL students. This is for everyone around the world, even if you speak English, even if you don't speak English. This is a very, very beautiful, basic lesson on how to write small, short, beautiful paragraphs. "How to Write a Basic Paragraph". Now, I also want you to be very careful. This is not how to write a 200-word essay for your university exam. We don't have enough time in the world for me to teach you that, and I probably forget. So this is, very simply, how to write a basic English paragraph. One, two, three, four rules. Rule No. 1 is: Indent, indent. What does "indent" mean? Indent, basically, means -- I learned this when I was a child -- you take your finger. You can have a big finger, a small finger -- I don't care. You take your finger or two fingers, and you make a little space like so. This is called an "indentation" or "indent". So "indent" means you leave a space at the very first line of the paragraph. And that's it. You do not leave a space at any other lines in the paragraph, only the first line. So it's very important that you only indent the first line of your paragraph like so. Okay. The next thing that you have to do is you have to use a capital letter at the beginning of every sentence. Now, the word that I've written is "I". Another rule in English is that every single time you write "I", it must be a capital. So I'm going to write an example sentence for you to illustrate what I mean: "I am a teacher." Okay? This is one sentence. So rule No. 3: At the end of my sentence, I must use a period. A "period" is a dot, if you'd like. So "I am a teacher." So what I'm going to do is my next sentence... I'm going to begin it with a capital letter. "My" -- so I want to say, "My name -- My name is Ronnie." So what I've done: Rule No. 1, indent. Rule No. 2, you have to use a capital letter at the beginning of every new sentence. Rule No. 3, you're going to use a period at the end of each sentence so that the person reading your beautiful paragraph knows when to stop and take a break. For example, if I did not have a period here, I'd say, "I'm a teacher my name is Ronnie." You need to break up your ideas. So one sentence has one thought and one period. "I am a teacher. My name is Ronnie." Next one. No. 4. I see this in a lot of students' writing. The two basic things about a paragraph are the form and the content. The form is the most important. The form is the indentation. And don't use point form. Do you know what "point form" is? If you're typing something on Word or on an email, "point form" is also called "bullets", which [makes shooting sounds]. So "bullet" means you would put each new sentence on a new line. So if I was to write this: "I'm a teacher", then I would put my next sentence here. This is not how to make a paragraph. This is "point form". So this is a bad paragraph. What I'm going to do is I'm going to write until I almost reach the end of the page. Don't write past the end of the page because then you're writing on the desk and it gets messy. So "I am a teacher. My name is Ronnie. I live -- so I'm going to use up all of my line until the end -- I live in Canada." What would you like to know about Canada? "Canada is very cold." In the winter. So as you can see by my example, I only stop my sentence at the end of my paper. I don't use each sentence on each line. So four basic things to remember when you're writing a basic English paragraph. The first one is: Indent the first line of your paragraph only. Use a capital letter at the beginning of each new line or each new sentence. And use a period at the end. Also, don't forget: Don't use point form. "I am a teacher. My name is Ronnie. I live in Canada. Canada is very cold. Go to 'Subscribe' on YouTube so you can find more great lessons like this." Goodbye.

10 Warning Signs Your Heart Isn't Working Properly

09:25
How to Prevent Heart Disease. About 610,000 people die from heart disease each year in the U.S. alone. There are tons of factors that can cause a person to develop heart problems, but most of them come down to poor lifestyle choices. Your body gives you warning signs early on so that you can catch an illness in its early stages or even prevent it altogether and save your life. Here are 10 of the most common red flags that indicate bad heart health. #heartproblems #healthyheart #bodysigns A cough that won't quit 1:38 A persistent cough can be a symptom of all kinds of health issues, and cardiovascular disease is one of them. For instance, a chronic cough that produces a pinkish bloody liquid is very common in people with heart failure. Despite what it sounds like, heart failure doesn't mean that the heart completely stops beating. It just means that a person’s heart isn’t pumping blood as well as it should be. As a result, the body doesn't get enough oxygen since it’s carried to all the tissues by the blood. Nausea and loss of appetite 3:07 A lot of heart disease patients show a lack of appetite, nausea, or both, even if they've had just a couple bites of food. The reason for that is built-up fluid around the liver and intestines that interferes with proper digestion. These symptoms are usually accompanied by abdominal pain, upset stomach, or feeling bloated. In fact, abdominal cramps that come and go in short spurts are extremely common right before a heart attack. Your skin becomes paler or takes on a bluish tint 5:28 Being naturally pale doesn’t necessarily mean you have a heart condition. But sudden paleness can be a result of reduced blood flow due to a heart that’s not pumping blood as effectively as it should be. Shock, which can be caused by any condition that prevents the blood in your body from circulating properly, is the main reason why people who are suffering from a heart attack or heart failure turn pale all of a sudden. Chronic or sudden fatigue 7:02 Fatigue can be one of the main symptoms indicating an impending heart attack. Women are more likely to experience heart-related fatigue than men, with 70% of female heart attack patients reporting that they’d felt extremely tired before their episode. Physical or mental activity isn't the reason for such exhaustion, and it increases by the end of the day if it’s due to a failing heart. It’s really hard for this symptom to go unnoticed. Sometimes it's exhausting just to perform even the simplest tasks, like making the bed or taking a shower. Music: The 126ers - Darkness of My Sun Density & Time - City of Jewels https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS 10. Pain that spreads to the arm 1:01 9. A cough that won't quit 1:38 8. Swollen legs, ankles, and feet 2:25 7. Nausea and loss of appetite 3:07 6. Extreme levels of anxiety 3:47 5. Lightheadedness or fainting 4:26 4. Your skin becomes paler or takes on a bluish tint 5:28 3. Skin rashes or unusual spots 6:20 2. Chronic or sudden fatigue 7:02 1. Increased perspiration 7:45 SUMMARY -If their heart isn’t working properly, a lot of men feel pain in their left arm, while women experience the same pain in either or both arms. -A persistent cough can be a symptom of all kinds of health issues, and cardiovascular disease is one of them. -When your heart isn’t pumping enough blood through the body, fluid from your blood vessels leaks into surrounding tissues. Your lower extremities are the most affected simply due to gravity. -A lot of heart disease patients show a lack of appetite, nausea, or both, even if they've had just a couple bites of food. -People who suffer from extreme anxiety from a very early age or most of their life are more prone to developing coronary heart disease. -Feeling lightheaded and experiencing temporary loss of consciousness, also known in the scientific community as “syncope”, is super common among heart patients. -Sudden paleness can be a result of reduced blood flow due to a heart that’s not pumping blood as effectively as it should be. -People with eczema were found to have a 48% chance of suffering from high blood pressure and a 29% possibility of having high cholesterol. -Sometimes it's exhausting just to perform even the simplest tasks, like making the bed or taking a shower before a heart attack. -People experience flu-like symptoms, have clammy skin, and sweat regardless of the air temperature or physical exertion. Mitosis vs. Meiosis: Side by Side Comparison

06:22
After learning about mitosis and meiosis from our individual videos, explore the stages side by side in this split screen video by The Amoeba Sisters! Expand video details for table of contents. Vocabulary in this video includes chromosome, chromatid, haploid, diploid, crossing over, and homologous chromosomes. Contents: 0:50 Intro to Mitosis/Meiosis 1:07 Starting Cells in Mitosis/Meiosis 1:20 Interphase (happens before mitosis and meiosis) 2:19 Mitosis/Meiosis I Split Screen 4:30 End of Mitosis 4:46 Meiosis II Hope you enjoy our comparison! You can see our individual videos on mitosis https://youtu.be/f-ldPgEfAHI and meiosis https://youtu.be/VzDMG7ke69g We also like to pin extra points/clarifications here. Crossing over in meiosis has a major role in genetically diverse offspring; however, Pinky learned in one of her graduate courses that mitosis crossing over- while very rare (likely why it's uncommon to see it in intro bio courses)- can occur. It can have a role in human cancer and "loss of heterozygosity." While this unusual event is not discussed in this intro video, here is a further reading suggestion where you can learn more about it: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2648873/ . P.S. What does FEATURE FILM mean? FEATURE FILM meaning - FEATURE FILM definition - FEATURE FILM explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A feature film is a film (also called a movie, motion picture or just film) with a running time long enough to be considered the principal or sole film to fill a program. The notion of how long this should be has varied according to time and place. According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the American Film Institute, and the British Film Institute, a feature film runs for 40 minutes or longer, while the Screen Actors Guild states that it is 80 minutes or longer. The majority of feature films are between 70 and 210 minutes long. The Story of the Kelly Gang (1906, Australia) was the first dramatic feature film released (running at approximately 60 minutes). An earlier The Corbett-Fitzsimmons Fight (1897, U.S.) is considered by some as the first documentary feature film (running time is 100 minutes), however it is more accurately characterized as a sports program as it included the full unedited boxing match. The first feature-length adaptation was Les Misérables (1909, U.S.). Other early feature films include The Inferno (L'Inferno) (1911), Quo Vadis? (1913), Oliver Twist (1912), Richard III (1912), From the Manger to the Cross (1912), and Cleopatra (1912). The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the American Film Institute, and the British Film Institute all define a feature as a film with a running time of 2400 seconds (i.e. 40 minutes) or longer. The Centre National de la Cinématographie in France defines it as a 35 mm film longer than 1,600 metres (5,200 ft), which is exactly 58 minutes and 29 seconds for sound films, and the Screen Actors Guild gives a minimum running time of at least 80 minutes. As time went on there were many technical advancements made in film. The first feature length film with sound was The Jazz Singer, released by Warner Bros in 1927. A new recording technology called Vitaphone, which was developed by Warner Bros., was used to capture the sound for the film. Before The Jazz Singer, many movie studios were reluctant to go through the expensive process of adding microphones to their sets. However, after seeing how successful the film was, other studios were scrambling to start producing their own Talkies. One of the next major advancements made in movie production was color film. Even before color was a possibility in movies, early film makers were interested in how color could enhance their stories. Early techniques included hand tinting in which each individual frame had to be painted by hand. Another more widely used development was toning, which involved dying the film in a signal color. Because it was faster and cheaper than hand tinting, toning was very popular and is seen in a large number of films in the 1920s. It was the Film processing lab Technicolor that developed the Three-Tone coloring technique that became the standard for color film. It was a complex, time consuming, and expensive process that many movie studios were not eager to try. One of the early adopters of the three strip process was Disney. Some of the most notable films Technicolor processed with three strip were The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind. Digital Video (or DV) is a technology that has had a major impact on how films are made in a relatively short period of time. The new digital technology was first being used to create special effects and animated movies, by the late 1990's digital cameras were becoming more and more common on film sets. In 2002, George Lucas' Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones was the first major feature length film to be shot entirely on digital cameras. With the ability to instantly playback footage and the easy transfer of footage to computers for editing, digital cinema helped to speed up post production time. Digital film making was given a big boost in 2005 when the Digital Cinema Initiative created a guide for manufacturers to create a universal standard, to make the technologies more compatible with each other and more user friendly. shooting movies on digital also lead to new technologies for distributing films. Titan A.E., released in 2000, was the first feature film to be released for viewing over the internet. Digital distribution changed the ways people received and watched media, it also gave viewers access to huge amounts of online content on demand.

How to Prolong the Life of Your Battery. In case the battery of your favorite gadget can't keep up with the workload and dies too quickly you must be looking for ways how to make it last longer. people still keep doing all kinds of crazy stuff because they think it’ll extend their battery life, like throwing their phone in the freezer! We’re gonna get into this plus more common mistakes people make when it comes to charging their devices and what you can do instead to prolong your phone’s battery. It turns out you don’t really have to charge your phone to the max before using it for the first time. It’s safe to use your phone while it's charging and also okay to charge it overnight. TIMESTAMPS Charging your phone to the max before using it for the first time. 1:14 Not using your phone while it's charging. 2:15 Being afraid that chargers from a different brand will kill your battery. 3:00 Thinking that turning your phone off will damage the battery. 3:40 Trying to “train” your battery. 4:13 Not charging your phone overnight for fear of damaging the battery. 4:58 Putting the battery in the freezer to make it last longer. 5:36 Using task managers to prolong battery life. 6:09 Fearing to leave your phone charger plugged in. 6:40 Not charging laptops all the time to prevent damage. 7:21 Believing that the Internet runs your battery down the fastest. 7:55 Turning off Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi to prolong the battery life. 8:42 Tips to prolong the life of your battery: Keep batteries cool. 9:28 Store batteries with a bit of charge. 10:01 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -You’ll be perfectly fine if you just buy a phone, take it out of the box, and start using it right away. -It doesn't matter whether you’re using your phone while charging or not, it’ll still charge the same exact way. -If the charger works well enough, it won't harm your mobile device. So if you need to urgently charge your phone in an emergency or the factory charger it came with doesn't work anymore, you can get any cheap version that’s compatible with your smartphone. -If you simply shut your device off from time to time, nothing dramatic will happen. In fact, some devices may actually start working more effectively after you reboot them. -Feel free to charge your phone even if the battery is as full as 90%. Charging your phone frequently doesn't hurt the battery. -If you wanna extend your battery’s lifespan, keep it charged between 40 and 80%. Believe it or not, this actually helps the battery live the longest. -Freezing your phone does nothing more than kill the battery. The thing is that lithium-ion batteries react badly to both cold and heat. -The built-in system on your phone is already dealing with everything that should be done to keep your device’s performance in tip-top shape. As for third-party task managers, they’re actually more likely to decrease your phone’s performance. -It's perfectly safe to leave your charger plugged in unless you have a damaged charger, pets at home, or no lightning protection. -Experts recommend discharging your laptop to zero percent no more than once a month. -If you’re just surfing the Net or reading articles, it doesn’t influence your battery life any more than listening to music does. -Wi-Fi consumes even less energy than your smartphone needs to maintain the cellular data connection. -Avoid leaving your smartphone, tablet, or laptop in direct sunlight or in a hot car. And definitely don’t take your gadgets to a hot place, like the beach or sauna. -The problem with storing batteries is that they lose their charge over time. And when this charge drops to zero, your battery will automatically kill itself so that it doesn’t become unstable.
