THE TRUTH About the JET (JAPAN EXCHANGE & TEACHING) Program// My Experience Teaching Abroad
The truth about the JET Program & what it's all about.I am not trying to put JET in a negative light. The JET Program is great for people who want to experience Japan and are nervous to move or get their foot in the door with working in Japan. I learned a lot of life skills before changing jobs and finding my way through this crazy life! I do recommend them. The JET Programme: The Good and Bad
So I made a giant list of things that I wanted to talk about that are good, bad, and in-between with the JET Programme, schools, and life in Japan. I ended up having to make these into separate videos because it was getting too long. This one is about the good and the bad for for the JET Programme. Basically here is how I made my list: THE JET PROGRAMME BAD: - Critical information you won't know until you arrive. (Such as information about your apartment, school, city, etc.) - Subsidized rent could be more fair. - Tokyo Orientation - You can't use medical leave for a bad cold, only for a positive test for the flu. If you have a cold and need days off you'll have to use "Nenkyu: paid days off usually used for vacation or holidays" - No overlap between successor and predecessor. GOOD: - They do ALL the paperwork for you!! - You get to work in Japan and experience Japanese culture! - Tokyo Orientation. - Girls can get menstrual leave paid days off. - Tons of holidays. - you don't need to know Japanese. IN-BETWEEN: - You don't know where you'll be placed. - The pay. - You need a degree. - Tokyo Orientation. - The people you work with. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave a message! I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

It was my second last week of school and I was really feeling the homesickness but that kind of got turned around a little by my english teacher. On the weekend, I decided to spontaneously take out my host sister for a bike ride and just follow the river through the city and see where it takes us. After, we went to an all you can eat buffet for my host brother's softball dinner. Editing this back makes me super nostalgic ahah thanks so much for watching! Today we toured Tokyo! The day started of with eating breakfast at our hotel and then walking to the Imperial Palace. There, we took a "virtual reality" tour with our super cool movie glasses. Then we ate lunch and went to get some delicious snacks... one of which Angela dropped. Then our group spilt up in downtown Tokyo to buy dinner and more souvenirs. Finally, we clasped at the hotel from jet lag and from walking around all day. But the others were troopers, and played hide and go seek in the hotel :P THANKS FOR WATCHING! We also tried to encourage people who watched this video to not be afraid to become active in their community. The video was well-recieved.
