What's in an Equity Research Report?
In this tutorial, you’ll learn what goes into an equity research report, including how it differs from a stock pitch in terms of structure and argument, the main sections of the reports, and how you might write your own reports. http://www.mergersandinquisitions.com/equity-research-report/ Table of Contents: 1:43 Part 1: Stock Pitches vs. Equity Research Reports 6:00 Part 2: The 4 Main Differences in Research Reports 12:46 Part 3: Sample Reports and the Typical Sections 20:53 Recap and Summary Part 1: Stock Pitches vs. Equity Research Reports The main difference is that equity research reports are like “watered-down” stock pitches: you still recommend for or against investment in a public company, but your views are weaker, “Sell” recommendations are rare, and you spend a lot more time describing the company and its operations and financials. By contrast, in hedge fund stock pitches you take more extreme views and spend more time explaining how your views differ from those of the market as a whole. Part 2: The 4 Main Differences in Research Reports 1) There’s More Emphasis on Recent Results and Announcements 2) Far-Outside-the-Mainstream Views Are Less Common 3) Research Reports Give “Target Prices” Rather Than Target Price Ranges 4) The Investment Thesis, Catalysts, and Risk Factors Are “Looser” Part 3: Sample Reports and the Typical Sections The main sections of a report are as follows: Page 1: Update, Rating, Price Target, and Recent Results The first page of an “Update” report states the bank’s recommendation (Buy, Hold, or Sell, sometimes with slightly different terminology), and gives recent updates on the company. A specific “target price” must be based on specific multiples and specific assumptions in a DCF or DDM. So with Jazz, we explain that the $170.00 target is based on 20.7x and 15.3x EV/EBITDA multiples for the comps, and a discount rate of 8.07% and Terminal FCF growth rate of 0.3% in the DCF. Next: Operations and Financial Summary Next, you’ll see a section with lots of graphs and charts detailing the company’s financial performance, market share, and important metrics and ratios. For a pharmaceutical company like Jazz, you might see revenue by product, pricing and # of patients per product per year, and EBITDA margins. For a commercial bank like Shawbrook, you might see loan growth, interest rates, interest income and net income, and regulatory capital figures such as the Common Equity Tier 1 (CET 1) and Tangible Common Equity (TCE) ratios: This section of the report explains how the research analyst/associate forecast the company’s performance and came up with the numbers used in the valuation. Valuation The valuation section is the one that’s most similar in a research report and a stock pitch. In both fields, you explain how you arrived at the company’s implied value, which usually involves pasting in a DCF or DDM analysis and comparable companies and transactions. The methodologies are the same, but the assumptions might differ substantially. In research, you’re also more likely to point to specific multiples, such as the 75th percentile EV/EBITDA multiple, and explain why they are the most meaningful ones. Investment Thesis, Catalysts, and Risks This section is short, and it is more of an afterthought than anything else. We do give reasons for why these companies might be mispriced, but the reasoning isn’t that detailed and it’s not linked to specific share prices. Banks present Investment Risks mostly so they can say, “Well, we warned you there were risks and that our recommendation might be wrong.” http://www.mergersandinquisitions.com/equity-research-report/

How To Read 10k Annual Reports
Hey, Colin from the Investor Channel Going to walk you through reading & interpreting an Annual Report SEC Form 10-K. I'm using Coca-Cola Company as the example using their most recent 10K Filing Here: http://www.coca-colacompany.com/content/dam/journey/us/en/private/fileassets/pdf/investors/2015-annual-report-on-form-10-k.pdf Basically I walk you through the basics of what kind of things you can look for in an Annual Report/10-K form. I also talk about some of the places to look for "red flags" or reasons to not invest (or go short) a company. The main thing is, don't be intimidated by the length of the documents or this video! It's not all that hard to read through these documents if you're willing to put in the time. Please leave any questions you have below about reading 10-K annual report documents.

US GAAP vs. IFRS on the Financial Statements
You'll learn the key differences between US GAAP and IFRS on the 3 main financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement). By http://breakingintowallstreet.com/ "Financial Modeling Training And Career Resources For Aspiring Investment Bankers" You'll also learn how to adjust an international company's financial statements to make it easier to model and project over time. Table of Contents: 1:46 Why US GAAP vs. IFRS Matters 5:28 Income Statement Terminology Differences 7:34 Balance Sheet Differences 14:09 How to Adjust the Financial Statements for an IFRS Company 20:02 Recap and Summary Income Statement: The Income Statement is very similar regardless of the accounting system. Some items have different names (e.g., Revenue is often called Turnover and Net Income is often called Profit), but that's about it. Balance Sheet: There are more differences on the Balance Sheet - items are often arranged in a different order (sometimes Long-Term Assets are listed first, then Current Assets, then Equity, then Long-Term Liabilities and Current Liabilities at the end). The Balance Sheet itself is usually called the "Statement of Financial Position." Also, items within the Equity section often have different names: Common Stock is called "Share Capital" or "Issued Capital." Additional Paid-In Capital is often called the "Share Premium." Retained Earnings and Treasury Stock tend to have similar names. IFRS-based companies also have many "Reserve" categories for items such as FX translation differences and unrealized gains and losses. For US-based companies, these items show up within Accumulated Other Comprehensive Income (AOIC) rather than being split out into separate "Reserve" categories. But the FUNCTIONALITY of the Balance Sheet is still very similar (items still flow in and change the same way), even if items have different names or are grouped differently. Cash Flow Statement There are more differences on the Cash Flow Statement, because most US-based companies use the INDIRECT method and most international companies use the DIRECT method. The Indirect Method starts with Net Income, makes non-cash adjustments, and lists the changes in Working Capital in the Cash Flow from Operations section. The Direct Method simply lists the cash received from customers and cash paid to suppliers and employees, along with income taxes and interest and other expenses, and so you don't see the full details behind the non-cash adjustments and working capital spending. When this happens, it is much, much harder to link the financial statements because changes in items such as Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable won't flow into anything on the Cash Flow Statement. So we recommend ADJUSTING the financial statements as follows: First, find a reconciliation between this Cash Flow Statement and the company's operating income and/or net income. Then, make the Cash Flow Statement start with Net Income instead, as it normally does, and include all the line items from this reconciliation (non-cash adjustments, Working Capital changes, etc.). And if there are still remaining differences between items such as income taxes and interest expense on the Income Statement vs. Cash Flow Statement, make adjusting entries on the CFS that indicate the true cash amount that a company paid for those. Deutsche Bank Reports Loss For Third Straight Year
FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank on Friday posted its third consecutive annual loss in 2017, taking a hit from challenging markets, a drop in investment bank revenue and a U.S. tax reform, after a difficult fourth quarter. The worse-than-expected results are likely to increase pressure on Chief Executive John Cryan to turn Germany’s biggest bank around. “We believe we are firmly on the path to producing growth and higher returns with sustained discipline on costs and risks,” Chief Executive John Cryan said in a statement. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/lgreXrG0ncw/deutsche-bank-reports-third-consecutive-annual-loss-idUSKBN1FM0KC http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Korea′s presidential office denies reports of Seoul′s decision on AIIB

청와대, &q
Korea′s presidential office says it has not decided whether it will join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. On Wednesday, President Park′s senior economic secretary An Chong-bum said there hasn′t been an official discussion on the matter,... but the Park administration is expected to make a decision after a review. He also denied local reports that Seoul has already notified Washington about its decision to participate in the multilateral financial institution. The A-I-I-B is a thorny topic between China and the U.S., the establishment of the bank is viewed as Beijing′s attempt to take control of economic and trade order in the Asia-Pacific.
British bank Barclays reports an improved performance in its key businesses
http://www.tanmarket.com - Barclays shares jump as transAtlantic refocus starts to pay off. British bank Barclays reports an improved performance in its key businesses, helping send its shares up more than 7 percent. SHOWS: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (FILE) (REUTERS - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF BARCLAYS OFFICE EXTERIORS WITH SIGNAGE 4. PEOPLE IN OFFICE RECEPTION AREA 5. VARIOUS OF BARCLAYS OFFICE EXTERIORS WITH SIGNAGE STORY: A corporate makeover at Barclays under CEO Jess Staley showed signs of paying off on Friday as the British bank reported an improved performance in its key businesses, helping send its shares up more than 7 percent. Staley in March set out a strategy to simplify the bank's structure and seek higher shareholder returns through the sale of the bulk of its Africa business and other assets, becoming a "transAtlantic" bank focused on the United States and Britain. It said on Friday profits from its core businesses, including consumer and commercial lending, credit cards and investment banking, rose 19 percent to 2.4 billion pounds in the first half. Group pretax profit fell 21 percent to 2 billion pounds ($2.6 billion), largely due to a loss of 1.9 billion pounds on the non-core assets the bank has recommitted to offload by end-2017, despite prospects of a possible economic downturn following Britain's vote to quit the European Union. "Barclays has been hit hard, it's had a tough time in the last 12-18 months in terms of some of the results and restructure they've seen. But I think they are sorting out the cost base, they are seeing that fruition has come from the restructuring programme they've out in place. They're seeing better capital position. And I think generally they're on the right path and seem to be making progress along that path and that's why the share price is up," said Simon Smith, Head of Research, FX Pro. The bank booked a 372 million pound impairment on the French retail banking business it is in talks to sell to AnaCap Financial Partners. Other assets earmarked for sale include its Barclaycard consumer payments business in Spain and Portugal as well as almost all of its stake in its Africa unit. It has already sold its Asia wealth operations and Italian banking business. Confidence in Britain's economic outlook has dropped sharply since voters opted to leave the EU on June 24, triggering a fresh bout of pessimism in a sector bruised by the costs of tighter regulation, restructuring and record low interest rates.

'60 Minutes' Reports on Chinese Investment
Read More Here:http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20080407135513.aspx Living with a global economy has given protectionists plenty to gripe about. In the 1970s and 1980s, it was the Japanese. At other times European investors have been the object of protectionist scorn. But over the last 20 years, it has been the emerging economies of the Arab nations and China. CBS's April 6 "60 Minutes" warned one Chinese investment firm in particular posed a "special concern."

Catherine Austin Fitts - We’ve Reached “Never Never Land” Accounting
There is good reason people are going to real assets. The U.S. government is “missing” $21 trillion between the DOD and HUD. This fact was uncovered by Fitts and economist Dr. Mark Skidmore last year. What was the government’s answer to this gigantic accounting fraud that is the size of the federal deficit? Give the government’s budgets basically classified national security status. Investment advisor and former Assistant Secretary of Housing, Catherine Austin Fitts says, “Apparently, the people leading the audit have come to them and said if we do this audit, we will disclose classified projects. So, the board (Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board - FASAB) came out with a new policy. I say it is illegal. You cannot do it under the financial management laws, and you certainly cannot do it under the Constitution, and it said you can keep classified off the books, which means you can cook the books and you can basically do whatever you want. This matches up with the waiver given to the national security advisor that says corporations, if he waives them (regulations), can also cook their books with the SEC. Now, we have the corporations making money, and they can cook their books under the law, and apparently the government can too. So, when the board made the statement and announced this new policy, they made the point that if they didn’t do this, the only alternative was to redact the Department of Defense financial statements, which meant you would have to redact the U.S. government’s financial statements, which means we have reached “Never, Never Land,” which also means the whole thing is a joke. . . . As a matter of policy, they are saying you have to give them, for the IRS, for the Census and all these other things, complete financial disclosure and honest financial disclosure by pain of law or you go to prison, but they can make up whatever they want. They can publish financial statements that are complete fiction with no accountability to you and call it national security. What this is doing is engineering complete financial insecurity for every American citizen. This is the end of financial security.” In closing, Fitts says, “I am a gold fan. . . . You also want to have as little leverage and debt as possible. . . . I am also a silver fan, and I am getting reports that silver is getting hard to find. Gold is down 8% for the year and silver is down 16%, but go and try to buy a bunch of silver. It’s tough.” Join Greg Hunter as he goes One-on-One with Catherine Austin Fitts, Publisher of The Solari Report.
