Exchange2010: Management Shell Not Connecting.avi
Was having a problem getting the Exchange Management shell to connect to the on-premise exchange server. I had detected a DNS problem with numerous DNS entries pointing to two IP addresses not in use on my network. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. The problem, per microsoft kb 2027062, was that an IIS binding was still pointing directly to one of those aforementioned IP addresses that weren't valid on my network.

Fix : Automatic Refresh Failed issue in Server Manager in Windows Server 2012
Hi Friends, Its been a long time since I uploaded the last video. Thank you guys for your great responses. Today we are going to see how to resolve the situation where server gives a red flag with error "Automatic Refresh Failed." and "Server manager is collecting Inventory Data. The wizard will be available after data collection finishes." Generaly this error appears when you try to add/remove roles from server manager. So on my Server 2k12 which is installed on virtual machine, when I tried to add roles on it, it gave me the following error : "Server manager is collecting Inventory Data. The wizard will be available after data collection finishes." Further when I tried to refresh the server manager, it shows "Refresh Failed". No metter how many times you try to refresh it, the count of failure here increases with each click. And when you click on the Red Flag here, it shows the Automatic Refresh Failed. So this is a frustrating situation where you wont be able to add/remove roles or features or any other activity on server manager. So in order to resolve this issue, open command prompt with Administrative Rights. You can do that by right clicking on CMD and then click on "Run as Administrator". Change the default directory to C:\Windows\System32 Once you do that, type the following command. dir /a /S *.MOF This command will search all the .mof files. It is the file format for Windows Management Object files. WMI data (such as definitions of namespaces, classes, instances, or providers) are sometimes represented in MOF files. Now change the directory path to wbem by typing CD Wbem and then cd AutoRecover. now type this simple command for /f %s in ('dir /b *.mof *.mfl') do mofcomp %s and hit enter. It will Recover all the .mof files that have been currupted and created an issue with Server Manager. It will take some time to recover all the files. Once it gets completed, type Exit to close the Command Prompt. Now go to the server manager and click on Refresh Icon and then click on Red Flag to check the status. You can see the server refresh is in progress instead of giving an error "refresh failed". Now it will take some time to refresh the server and finally without giving us an error of Server Refresh failed, it successfully refresh the server, which in result allows you to install Roles and Features on server. MCITP 70-640: Managed Service Accounts
This video looks at some of the new features in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 that can automate the management of service accounts. If your application supports it, using managed service accounts means that the password of the service account is automatically changed periodically without any interaction from the administrator. What is a service account A service account is a user account that is created to run a particular service or software. In order to have good security, a service account should be created for each service/application that is on your network. On large networks this will mean a lot of service accounts and the management of these service accounts can become difficult, thus this is where Managed Service Accounts can help. Computer Accounts A computer account is like a user account in that it has a password. The difference is that the password for a computer account is automatically updated by Windows with no interaction from the user. Managed Service Accounts uses the same process to manage the password for a Managed Service Account. Refer here for information about computer accounts http://itfreetraining.com/70-640/computer-accounts Managed Service Accounts Passwords The password that is associated with a Managed Service Account (MSA) is automatically changed every 30 days. It is a random string of 120 characters so it offers better security than standard passwords even if the standard password uses upper and lower case letters combined with non alphanumeric characters. Unless of course the administrator wants to use their own 120 character password which is difficult for an administrator to work with. Like a computer account, the Managed Service Account is bound to one computer and thus cannot be used on a computer that it was not designed to work with. This provides additional security. Requirements In order to start using Managed Service Accounts you need to meet a few requirements. Domain Functional Level: This needs to be Windows Server 2008 R2 or above. Forest Functional Level: Does not require any particular forest level. Schema changes: The schema needs to be up to date. Run ADPrep /ForestPrep to update the schema to the latest version using a Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD or above. Client: The Managed Service Account can only be used on Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7. Software components: .Net Frame work 3.5 and Active Directory module for Windows Powershell are required for Managed Service Accounts. Supported Software Not all software will work with a Managed Service Accounts. Managed Service Accounts do not allow the software to interact with the Desktop. Thus a Managed Service Account cannot be used to login and cannot be used to display GUI based Windows. Listed below are common software and if they can use a Managed Service Account. Exchange: Yes, but the Managed Service Account cannot be used for sending e-mail. IIS: Yes, can be used with application pools. SQL Server: Some people have got Managed Service Accounts to work with SQL but Microsoft does not support it. Task Scheduler: No AD LDS: Yes, Active Directory Light Weight Service works with a Managed Service Account, however a special procedure does need to be followed in order to get it to work. Helpdesk: Enable WinRM Remote Management in Server 2008/2012
Been a while since I have done a tech video so I figured I would throw one together. I have seen so many overly-complicated videos and blogs about how to do such a simple thing: Enable windows Remote Management on a server (This is NOT the same thing as RDP). This video gets you up and running for the vast majority of situations in less time than it took you to read this :) Needless to say you MUST have admin rights to do this and should NOT do this with servers that are not protected from the internet by a well configured firewall.

DEF CON 24 - Sean Metcalf - Beyond the MCSE - Red Teaming Active Directory
Active Directory (AD) is leveraged by 95% of the Fortune 1000 companies for its directory, authentication, and management capabilities, so why do red teams barely scratch the surface when it comes to leveraging the data it contains? This talk skips over the standard intro to Active Directory uff and dives right into the compelling offensive information useful to a Red Teamer, such as quickly identifying target systems and accounts.AD can yield a wealth of information if you know the right questions to ask. This presentation ventures into areas many didn’t know existed and leverages capability to quietly identify interesting accounts & systems, identify organizations the target company does business with regularly, build target lists without making a sound, abuse miscon gurations/ existing trusts, and quickly discover the most interesting shares and their location. PowerShell examples and AD defense evasion techniques are provided throughout the talk. Let’s go beyond the MCSE and take a different perspective on the standard AD recon and attack tactics.
