The (uncomfortable) truth of HR and leadership development | Patrick Vermeren | TEDxKMA

19:28
Quackery and pseudoscience can be very dangerous. Not only in medicine but also in human resources. Alarmed by the nonsensical ideas of Transactional Analysis, Patrick Vermeren set out on a mission to reveal the truth about the many HR theories, models and questionnaires. The academic literature revealed that most HR practices (in recruitment, assessment, development, coaching…) are very problematic and some even dangerous. In this Talk valid alternatives are presented. Patrick Vermeren has been active as a consultant, trainer and coach since 1996. He built on his experience at major Belgian banks ( Cera and Dexia) and an American multinational ( Procter & Gamble). Since he joined Perco he advises HR professionals and he guides groups and individuals in the areas of leadership, coaching and facilitating decision making in groups ( participation). He also assists CEOs, managers and high potentials through training and personal coaching. ਕਨੇਡਾ ਵਰਕ ਵੀਜਾ ਦੇ ਰਿਜੇਕਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ। canada Work permit process da time and reasons for rejection.

14:53
A work permit is required to work in Canada and fill a specific available position. However, there are certain rules and restrictions around the same. You can obtain a Canada work visa if you satisfy the criteria that the visa officer is looking for. One must note that there are many employment options in Canada that require skilled workforce from abroad. Although, it is a way to attain Canadian citizenship in the future, one cannot assume the same. However, the application for work allows is primarily for those who only intend to work temporarily in Canada. The Canada work permit needs you to submit quite a few documents for the purview of the visa officer. You have to submit an application for a temporary resident visa and also provide family information, photographs and a statutory declaration of the Common-Law Union. In fact, some visa offices also have precise local instructions that you must follow. It is not a bad idea to take the help of an immigration advisory service to understand the process and determine which of the available visas would be apt for you. There is a point system of assessment for immigration in Canada. However, for work permit, one doesn't have to undergo that assessment. The point system is applicable only for those who have applied for business visas or visas for skilled workers. The permit allows you to take up a job in Canada. Hence, it is given to those who have a written job offer from a Canadian employer. The assessment has several stages. The employment of a foreign national in that capacity is scrutinized. This is to find out if it will adversely affect the interests of the country or its domestic labor or not. The scrutiny is carried out by HRSDC or Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. After the confirmation is received from HRSDC, the foreign national can apply to the CIC for the work permit. The CIC or Citizenship and Immigration Canada office has to be satisfied with the application. Employers are responsible for their foreign employees and have to make sure they possess all the required paperwork. Interestingly, work visa allows one to bring his or her spouse. Nevertheless, the spouses cannot work in Canada unless they have their own work go for. A long list of exemptions is also provided for scenarios where temporary immigration is permitted without a valid work permit. Those who apply for the work permit in Canada, have to show that they do not intend to settle down in Canada and that they will leave the country when the work visa expires. The visa officer must also be satisfied that the foreign nationals have enough money to support themselves and their dependents in Canada. They must also have enough money to return back from Canada. The visa officer also checks if the applicant is law abiding or not. This is done through a background check on criminal activity by asking one to submit a police certificate. In some cases, a medical exam might be required as well. For most people a move overseas means the need to secure a job with a foreign employer; in the vast majority of cases this means getting a visa which permits work. This is certainly the case Canada where a work permit visa is required in order to secure full-time work or to pursue a career. Although a student visa allows a minimal amount of work, in order to be able to work longer hours.

08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills

12:25
08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.

How can we help people to live a good life? Instead of trying to right what's wrong within a community Cormac argues we need to start with what's strong. It has been determined that the missing data may have been SOLD by an employee of the HRSDC. It has also been determined that the HRSDC may have mislead the media and the loss of credit information may be far more substantial that originally claimed. Human Resources and Skills Development Canada originally claimed that the missing credit files on students were from 2000 to 2006. Our investigation confirms that missing personal data and credit information may also be missing or sold from students in 2007 and beyond. We have received mountains of information and leads that we are currently following up on. We are very confident that we may have further evidence in the very near future that may assist in the prosecution of any participants in the illegal sale of student data. How To Apply For a Work Permit in Canada - Canadian Immigration

04:15
Work in Canada: http://www.canadianimmigration.co/working-temporarily/how-to-apply-for-temporary-work/ This video explains how to apply for a Canadian work permit in 6 easy steps. 1. Look into the application processing times The amount of processing time is affected by where you have applied. To ensure that the process is expedited, you can: -make certain that all the appropriate information is filled out on your application -inform the visa office of any changes to the information on your application -submit clear and legible photocopies and documents -submit certified English or French translations of documents, if necessary -apply from a country where you are a citizen or a permanent resident At the same time, if it is necessary for the visa office to take extra steps when dealing with your application, then the processing time will be extended. This could happen if: -your application indicates criminal or security issues -your family situation is vague due to an event, such as a divorce or an incomplete adoption or an unresolved child custody situation -the local visa office needs to confer with other Citizenship and Immigration offices in Canada or in other countries -a medical examination is necessary 2. Acquire an application package All the necessary forms and a guide to filling out the application are in the package. Prior to filling in the application, you need the following: -a written job offer from your employer -evidence that you meet the job requirements (such as proof of a specific level of education or past work experience) -a positive labour market opinion on your job issued by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC), if the job necessitates one. Ensure that your employer will get the HRSDC opinion, and then send it to you. Keep in mind that a positive opinion will not guarantee that you will receive a work permit. When your job does not necessitate an HRSDC opinion, you will need: -a valid passport or travel document that will prove your identity, and attests that you are eligible to return to the country where it was issued -evidence of your present immigration status for the country in which you are applying, if you are not a citizen of that country Your employer will send the labour market opinion confirmation letter to you once they receive confirmation that you can be offered a job. You are then required to submit the job offer along with your application. 3. Choose to where your application will be submitted Your application must be submitted to your local visa office. You must have legal status in the country from where you're submitting. To read more about the next steps to take to obtain a Canadian work permit, please visit this free page on our site: http://www.canadianimmigration.co/working-temporarily/how-to-apply-for-temporary-work/ Or visit our site for other free Canadian immigration tips at: http://www.canadianimmigration.co/

Elevate Canada: Raising the Grade for Food Processing

06:34
Over the past two years, Essential Skills Ontario (ESO), in collaboration with the Food Processing Human Resource Council (FPHRC) and various community service providers, have been working on an innovative workforce development demonstration initiative, Elevate Canada: Raising the Grade for Food Processing. Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada under the Adult Learning, Literacy and Essential Skills Program, Elevate has been helping bridge the gap between vulnerable adults looking for work and different sub-sectors of the food processing industry looking for workers. Comprised of two phases, Elevate first spent time analyzing the job task requirements of entry level occupations in the food processing sector. Project staff visited four food processing facilities and conducted interviews with key managers and employees. These interviews focused on what skills were needed for each position and how those skills had been developed, with ESO staff then observing employees in their day to day work on the factory floor. The second phase of the Elevate initiative involved working directly with service delivery partners and employers to train individuals receiving income support in Ontario with skills relevant to in-demand occupations in the food processing industry. Delivering integrated employer-tailored curriculums developed by Loyalist College through Alchemy Systems’ platform, nine different cohorts were trained across Ontario by six partner organizations: One cohort in Strathroy, working with Fanshawe College and Bonduelle’s Frozen Foods Three cohorts in Trenton/Belleville, working with Loyalist College, Canadian Blast Freezers and Vantage Foods Two cohorts in Stratford, working with Partners in Employment, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Monforte Dairy, Shepherds Gourmet Dairy and Nutty Bakers One cohort in Woodstock, working with Fanshawe College, Bright Cheese, Old Time Bakery, Kerry Ingredients, and Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese One cohort in Oshawa, working with Durham Region Unemployed Help Centre, Buckingham Meat Market and Halenda’s Fine Foods One cohort in Toronto, working with PTP Adult Learning and Employment Programs, Wildly Delicious Fine Foods, Real Food for Real Kids, Kerr’s Bros Limited and Country Fresh Packaging/Dominion Citrus “The Elevate initiative really helped us learn just how important it is for communities to collaborate with each other in order to get people back to work,” says Lesley Brown, Executive Director at ESO. “By coming together to work for a common goal, everyone benefitted – employers, potential employees and trainers alike.” To learn more about Elevate, please visit: http://www.essentialskillsontario.ca/node/622
Parents of Killed / Missing Kids Get Income Help in CANADA - Missing / Abducted / Murdered Children

09:00
News announcement by the Prime Minister of Canada - Mr. Stephen Harper. The Parents of Missing / Abducted / Murdered Children in CANADA to get income help. CBC News - Posted: Apr 20, 2012 1:08 PM ET Parents of killed or missing kids to get income help Parents on leave from work to receive $350 a week for up to 35 weeks (CBC News Posted: Apr 20, 2012 1:08 PM ET) ORIGINAL LINK: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/04/20/pol-benefit-for-parents-of-missing-murderd-children-harper.html ANNOUNCEMENT: Prime Minister Stephen Harper discusses the income support program for parents of victims of crime alongside Senator Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu. (Jacques Boissinot/Canadian Press) Parents with children who have died or disappeared as a result of a crime will be eligible to receive income support if they take time off work to cope with their loss, the federal government announced today. Beginning on January 1, the new income support benefit will provide $350 per week for up to 35 weeks for parents of murdered or missing children who are younger than 18 years old, and whose death or disappearance is the result of a Criminal Code offence. A child's disappearance would be considered a Criminal Code offence if police investigate it as a suspected crime. "Often and understandably, parents are unable to return to work after their children disappear or are murdered," said Prime Minister Stephen Harper at a news conference in Sherbrooke, Que. Harper announced the program alongside Human Resources and Skills Development Minister Diane Finley and Senator Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu, who became a victim's rights activist after his own daughter was killed in 2002. Jobs of mourning parents to get protection To be eligible, parents will need to have earned a minimum income of $6,500 in the previous calendar year and take leave from employment. The government said it would also alter the Canada Labour Code to allow for unpaid leave for federally-regulated employees and ensure the person's job is protected while receiving the benefit. If missing children are found, the benefits would continue for two weeks after the child is found, assuming the parents are still entitled to the benefits for those weeks. The government says the benefit will help more than 1,000 parents annually, basing those numbers on a 2008 Statistics Canada crime survery. The total number of youth who were victims of homicide, other offences causing death, kidnapping and abduction was 1,229 in 2008, according to Statistics Canada. Parents who receive the benefit that are later determined to be criminally responsible for the death or disappearance would have to repay the benefit, a spokesperson for Human Resources and Skills Development Canada said. Parents will apply for the benefit through Service Canada. The program follows on a campaign promise to provide support for parents of child victims of crime. That same campaign promise also included families of gravely ill children as potential recipients of benefits, but Friday's announcement made no mention of those families. "That was a platform commitment and we are reviewing legislation," said a spokesperson for HRSDC. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stephen Watkins Message - I welcome the CBC News to contact me for an interview - I welcome this news as my sons International Abduction case " WATKINS MISSING CHILDREN " is one of the worst International Child Abductions from Canada in 2009. As I understand that most of the Public may feel that this is a "Smoke Screen" to make the government look good, you have to take into consideration ALL the Canadian parents who are living this nightmare. This is a GREAT FIRST step! My sons case has also been mentioned twice in the House of Commons. The Public has NO idea what it is like when your children have been abducted and are missing - Your LIFE IS ON HOLD until they are found and returned. You WON'T believe me until it happens to YOUR family! Until this announcement, as little as it is, there has been NO financial support for parents searching for their missing children. The Public assumes that Law Enforcement, Regional, Federal Gov puts up the bill for investigative services. In International CASES, it is ALL outside of the jurisdiction. The searching parent has to PAY FOR ALL all the investigative service and court costs to search for missing children. In 3 years, Me and my family have already paid $250K in services to locate my two abducted sons. There is NO ONE I can sue to get this money back and we have had NO financial support by the Ontario, Federal Gov or monies donated by the Public for this search.
