Hello World’s Ashlee Vance paid a recent visit to Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavik to see the next part of the green energy story. He found a start-up called Icewind that is building a new type of funky wind turbine designed to perform well in low-wind conditions but also to slow itself down in high-winds, preventing it from catching on fire or ripping apart. Google Pixel 3 XL Official First Look, Price, Release Date, Specs, Camera, Introduction

02:00
✖ Google Pixel 3 XL Official First Look, Price, Release Date, Specs, Camera, Introduction Here is the Google Pixel 3 XL Smartphone First Look with Price, Release Date, Specifications, Camera, Features and More. For the first and second generation of both Google Pixel devices, the Alphabet-owned company has worked alongside an OEM partner to manufacture the handsets. In 2016, Google signed a contract for the Pixel and Pixel XL manufacture with HTC, however in 2017 the search giant split the development of its smartphones between HTC and LG, while the first was responsible for the smaller Pixel 2, the latter made the bigger Pixel 2 XL. Apparently, Google is ready for a sail alone on the smartphone waters during this year, well, not so alone. According to recent reports, both Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be designed entirely in-house by Google, but the manufactured will be put on Foxconn shoulders. If you have lived in a cave for the past ten years, Foxconn is the well known manufacturing company behind Apple iPhone and Nokia branded products. The documents pointing to the above statement were collected by the folks at WinFuture and they state that Google has been looking for a company that could manufacture their 2018 flagships. Foxconn has been one of Google choices since the start, but the reports say that FIH Mobile – Foxconn’s subsidiary – has been commissioned to manufacture the next Pixel smartphones. This will be the first time that we will see Google exclusively responsible for the manufacture of its smartphones since the Nexus era. Of course, a lot of smartphone industry enthusiasts were pointing that something like this would eventually happen. Especially after the Alphabet-owned company acquired the HTC engineers involved in the making of Pixel smartphones. According to a Bloomberg report, the newest Pixel 3 smartphone will not bring a different design over its predecessor, but the Pixel 3 XL, in counterpart, is said to have a nearly edge-to-edge screen, unfortunately (or not) with a display notch in the top. A picture containing the alleged front panels of both smartphones have leaked two days ago and confirms this statement. If the Pixel 3 XL will really embrace the Notch that wouldn’t be a big surprise since Google is preparing Android P to offer special support for the devices of such pedigree. Seeing Google’s own smartphone with a notch to show all the specific features of Android optimized for it would be a good way to market the OS and its implementation for the remaining manufacturers. March Fifth is basically the drop dead date for any Independent Candidate, assuming you've got billions of dollars and already know who your Vice President is and are willing to navigate all of the hurdles that are there to prevent you from getting over it, which he is, which he can. March Fifth is the drop dead date to run for President. March First is Super Tuesday, which is the big data reveal for anybody considering jumping into the race. If you're trying to figure out, "How strong is Hillary,""How real is Donald Trump," "How real is Bernie Sanders," all of the shouting will fade and the data will emerge on March First. So if you are Mike Bloomberg you are waiting for March First to get the data reveal and you know you have between March First and March Fifth to make your decision. Personally, I think he's going to do it. Refurbished PC Buying Guide 🖥 DIY in 5 Ep 86

04:20
Here are a few tips that for buying used or refurbished PC gear. Generally, any tech you see listed as refurbished, reconditioned, B stock, pre-owned or even used just means that it cannot legally be sold as new. These items are sold at a steep discount, usually 30-50% the MSRP, which is a great deal. But what’s wrong with them? While we could jump to conclusion that it’s defective and that’s why it was returned, that’s not always the case. The original owner could have had buyer’s remorse or found a better deal elsewhere. The item could have been set out as a display in a store. It could have been failed to meet the manufacturer’s quality test and was rebuilt before it even left the factory. You never know, and you’ll probably never find out. If there was something defective about the product, someone somewhere probably ran some diagnostics, wiped the hard drive, did a fresh OS install and put it back in the box. Again, you never really know. Because of this, it can be a little terrifying to spend so much money on refurbished tech, even though the seller assures you it’s good as new. Buy from a trusted retailer/manufacturer Our first recommendation is only buying refurbished PC gear from a trusted retailer or even directly from the manufacturer if possible - not eBay, craigslist or from Uncle Joe. Bigger retailers usually have some type of warranty or certification for restoring products and are more likely to stand by their work. If you can buy directly from the manufacturer, that’s even better. Not only will you have a manufacturer’s warranty, but any defective parts that were replaced will be originals and the refurbished product will be put through the same testing as the brand-new products. Microsoft even has their own standard, MAR (Microsoft Authorized Refurbished) guaranteeing legitimacy of their products with a Certificate of Authenticity. Warranty & Return Policy Next, if not purchasing directly from the manufacturer, check that warranty and return policy. Find out the coverage length, how repairs are handled, repair turn-around time, and who is the party providing the coverage (is it the manufacturer or some company you never heard of?). Knowing you are covered, should you have an issue, offers a peace of mind and shows that the seller stands behind the quality of the product being sold. It used to be the case that ‘recertified’ implied some kind of warranty coverage, while ‘refurbished’ meant sold ‘as is’ but that’s not always the case. Other things to check A little trick I love when shopping for used tech is to take the model number of the purchase I’m considering and compare it to a brand-new model, if possible. If the specs are different, then chances are the item was refurbished with third party or inferior components. Next, compare the warranties to see if a machine with similar specifications is available at the same price but with a longer warranty. Some refurbished retailers will use a Grading scale for used products A-C to let you know the condition the product is in, with A being the best condition and C being ‘heavily-worn’. Take all of this into consideration when doing your research. If you are considering buying a fully built, refurbished PC, see if it comes with peripherals, power cables, an operating system. Sometimes they don’t and that will explain the lower price and if you already have these items this is a great way to save money. If there is an OS installed, does it come with a valid license? Buying refurbished PC gear can be a great deal if you know what to look out for. We’ve even found refurbished tech that had only been out a few months! I’ve also purchased refurbs that had issues, but were under manufacturer’s warranties, thank the pc gods. Do you buy refurbished tech? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments. If you want to buy new, remember Kingston and HyperX makes killer PC components like memory modules, SSDs, keyboards, and mice. Samsung Galaxy S9 2018's First Android Superphone, Release Date, Price, Specs, Rumors

03:25
Samsung Galaxy S9 2018's First Android Superphone, Release Date, Price, Specs, Rumours Samsung Galaxy S8 Unlocked 64GB from http://amzn.to/2zxn13g Samsung Galaxy S8+ Unlocked 64GB from http://amzn.to/2Dikv2O Samsung Galaxy S9: Release date, price, specs, and rumors about 2018's first Android superphone Samsung set the bar for flagship smartphones early in 2017 with its stunning Galaxy S8 and there's no doubt the South Korean tech powerhouse is looking to do the same in 2018. The company announced the S8 in March, which caught some off-guard as it traditionally reveals its new phones at the Mobile World Congress tech conference in February. Providing this year was a one-off, we could be seeing the Samsung Galaxy S9 in as little as three months time. There's been no official word from Samsung, but plenty of rumors are already circulating around the internet. Alongside the Google Pixel, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has emerged as a bona fide alternative to Apple's iPhone 8 and iPhone X phones. Samsung was the first company to experiment with an edge-to-edge display as well as face-scanning unlock features. Other aspects of its phones, like the Bixby personal assistant, have failed to take off. But it's highly likely that the new Galaxy S9 will pack in plenty of interesting features - but it won't be cheap. A further report has appeared suggesting that we may see the Samsung Galaxy S9 sooner than originally thought. According to Bloomberg, there will be an event in February 2018 that will reveal the Galaxy S9 and the phone will go on sale in March. Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date "The South Korea-based technology giant plans to introduce the new models, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, as early as late February and release the devices as early as March, according to people familiar with the matter. "The new phones will be similar to the current Galaxy models, but include upgraded camera systems, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private". If this proves to be true, it will be five months after Samsung launched the Note 8 and will increase the pressure on Apple's iPhone X. Samsung Galaxy S9 Price Don't expect the Samsung Galaxy S9 to be a cheap gadget. The current lowest-price S8 will still set you back £689. It's highly unlikely that Samsung will drop the price for its newer phone so you can expect it to cost at least that. What remains to be seen is whether the company will match Apple with a phone costing over £1,000 once you get the higher specs. Please Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel: https://goo.gl/ocXAAr

Samsung Galaxy S9 - Everything we know about the Specs & Price

09:51
Samsung Galaxy S9: Everything we know about the specs. In the shadow of the iPhone X, Samsung’s 2018 flagship has much to prove. Samsung may be feeling antsy. Since the iPhone X debuted in September, Apple has monopolized most of the smartphone attention. The notch. Face ID. Animoji. But Samsung, which sells more phones globally than Apple or any other vendor, is rumored to have no shortage of new, cool features on deck for its next flagship -- which we'll call the Galaxy S9 for now -- due sometime around... well, that's actually up for debate. The rumors about the phone's features range from bleeding-edge (e.g., it will be foldable) to vintage (e.g., it will have a headphone jack). Everything we recently learned about Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 845 processor, which is likely to power the Galaxy S9, points to significant advancements in camera and security technology. As Apple's iPhone X and iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus dominated the spotlight through the holiday season, Samsung remained, undoubtedly, waiting in the wings, eager to launch its response in 2018. (And move even further on from the debacle of its Note 7, which was recalled twice in 2016 due to exploding batteries.) With an announcement likely to come sometime in the next few months, more details are sure to leak. What follows is a collection of what we know for sure and what we're hearing in the wind about the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S9. Rumor: It might not be called the Galaxy S9. The iPhone X, named in honor of the device's 10th anniversary created a problem -- or perhaps an opportunity -- for Samsung. If the company sticks with the natural sequence of its own naming convention, it risks creating an inferiority complex among customers; who wants a Galaxy S9 when you can already get an iPhone X (pronounced "ten")? According to Forbes, Samsung may follow suit with the Galaxy X. Of course, it could one up Apple by going straight to the Galaxy S11 -- or something else entirely. Rumor: First with a Snapdragon 845 processor. We know that the next flagship will run Samsung's own Exynos 9 Series 9810 processor, at least in Asia. Given that the Snapdragon 835 debuted in the Galaxy S8, it's quite possible that the Galaxy S9 will be first out of the gate with the Snapdragon 845, which is expected to enable a whole bunch of new features plus better battery life. So far, however, only Xiaomi's forthcoming Mi 7 is confirmed to use the Snapdragon 845. Rumor: Samsung has its own version of Face ID. Even before Apple upped the ante with the iPhone X, Samsung had something to prove in the facial-recognition department after hackers fooled the Galaxy S8's iris scanner using a photo and contact lenses. The Korea Herald reports that Samsung has been working to improve its technology and will bring it to its budget phones in 2018 or 2019. Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 845 processor, rumored to debut in the Galaxy S9, supports the type of 3D face mapping that's used in Apple's Face ID technology. And while Apple's Face ID technology uses 30,000 dots of infrared light to map your face, Qualcomm's capacity is 50,000 dots, theoretically giving it an accuracy edge. Rumor: The fingerprint scanner is back (on the back). Regardless of whether Samsung's answer to Face ID is finished in time for the Galaxy S9, we pray that the company figures out a better solution for its fingerprint scanner. The new Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus make an incremental improvement, with the scanner centered below the rear camera. But this still falls short of our true hope: that Samsung will ditch this most cursed feature -- the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner -- altogether. There have been rumors suggesting that the company has attempted to embed the scanner in the display -- a popular fantasy about the iPhone X before it launched, too. According to The Investor, it sounds like the Galaxy S9 will follow in the footsteps of its ancestors, hamstrung with a rear-facing scanner. Rumor: The Galaxy S9 could be foldable (but probably won't be). Last year, Samsung filed a patent for a foldable phone, and this summer Bloomberg reported that the company was considering releasing two models with bendable screens. Since then, the president of the company's mobile business told the Associated Press that Samsung would launch such a phone once it resolved "some problems." Major Model S & X Refresh In 2018 (Prediction)

07:11
Tesla's Model 3 has a new battery cell architecture, more advanced touchscreen, revamped HVAC system, interior cameras and overall seems far more technologically advanced than the higher-end Model S or X. Why is this the case? Why has Tesla also been underselling the performance specs of the Model 3? My guess is there is a major Model S & X refresh around the corner that will build these new features into Tesla's premium products.
