Vacuum.

02:01
We review a stupid vacuum cleaner. This isn't actually sponsored. It is parody. Ad: There is no ad for this video because we were ashamed of it. This is a play on the recent trend of Dyson vacuum reviews, including the Dyson V10 Cyclone vacuum that everyone on earth seems to be sponsored by. We're not really about that sponsored content life, but were curious about what it's like to make a similar video -- so we did. If you are out of the loop, there are plenty of major technology YTers who have uploaded videos pertaining to the product parodied here. Check them out! There's not actually a link to the vacuum. Sorry. Perhaps consider a GN Modmat backorder instead? https://store.gamersnexus.net/ Music "Slow Jam" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Like our content? 28 Cores of Bulls#!t - Intel's "5GHz" Parlor Trick

07:45
We talk about Intel's 28-core, 5GHz CPU unveil at Computex, which we found disingenuous and misleading. Ad: Thermaltake View 37 on Amazon http://geni.us/ttview37gn Intel used a Xeon processor for its "new" desktop demo, likely the 8176 Xeon CPU, then pretended that the CPU was a brand new desktop part. The company also pushed the narrative of a 5GHz overclock on 28 cores, but neglected to note that they were using a chiller to achieve these temperatures. It's an old CPU -- rebranded as a new one, at that -- and it's overclocked with an unnamed chiller that operated below -10 degrees Celsius. Real-Time Ray Tracing Explained

11:46
We talk with NVIDIA's Tom Petersen about how ray tracing works, with some specific information on real-time ray-tracing. Ad: Buy the EVGA X299 DARK on Newegg (https://goo.gl/rcwkwY) Article: https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3279-real-time-ray-tracing-explained Real-time ray tracing has been "the next big thing" in gaming (and cinema) for what feels like forever. We first covered some nVidia predictions on real-time ray tracing in games around ~2012-2013, when the company projected an equivalent to RTX happening around 2015. That, obviously, was a few years early, and we're now revisiting the topic in 2018. Now, with Tensor cores in Volta architecture, nVidia is able to render real-time ray tracing at 4K60 on about $12,000 of graphics cards, and the company almost assuredly intends to move this down to more consumer-affordable hardware in the future. In this video, we talk about how real-time ray tracing works, including examples of ray tracing (many made by GN) in Unreal Engine or Blender. The real-time aspect is what makes 3D graphics hard to render, and what we're mostly talking about today. We have a new GN store: https://store.gamersnexus.net/ Like our content? GDDR6 Price, New GPU Launch Timelines, & Mass Production

05:35
SK Hynix's GDDR6 memory is coming soon, and it'll land on the next-generation of nVidia GPUs -- the fabled GTX 1180 (or 2080) sometime... eventually. Ad: Buy the Corsair Dark Core SE on Amazon (https://goo.gl/3psBno) Article: https://www.gamersnexus.net/industry/3271-gddr6-slated-for-next-gen-nvidia-gpus-3-month-mass-production NVidia will eventually make a new GPU, some day, and it'll probably bear Turing or Ampere architecture branding, derivatives of Volta in some form. Either way, our new information from GTC 2018 suggests GDDR6 placement in these upcoming graphics cards, with mass production for GDDR6 beginning in the June-July timeframe. We'd assume, then, that the cards will at least be pushed back past this time. We also took this opportunity to talk about GDDR6 speed and bandwidth versus GDDR5, along with some new information on GDDR6 vs. GDDR5 relative pricing. Ad: Thermaltake View 37 on Amazon http://geni.us/ttview37gn Our news starts with a revisit of our Intel 28C coverage, following discussions with Intel on the phone (and other sites talking with Intel). Intel apparently "forgot" to mention the overclock on stage for the 28C CPU. NVIDIA Plays the Victim & GPP Info Dump

Our info dump on everything we collected on GPP up until now, nVidia's now-defunct "GeForce Partner Program." Buy GN's glass logo cube or Modmat! https://store.gamersnexus.net/ These purchases will help support us in making videos like this, given the obvious relationship hits we take. We talk about issues we have with nVidia's GeForce Partner Program retirement letter, which frames the situation as if nVidia is the victim and that consumers and media are "why we can't have nice things." This discussion also goes into some concerns we have with the over-arching PC hardware industry, which has become increasingly "influencer" focused, thus reducing capacity of manufacturers to withstand criticism. Any criticism is now perceived as a slight, even with a long-standing history of professional product reviews. Finally, we add some of our source information on what was happening with GPP. "Closed-Loop" Liquid Nitrogen Cooler | EVGA Roboclocker Computex

06:08
We were among the first to look at the EVGA "Roboclocker" at Computex 2018, EVGA's new liquid nitrogen recirculation hardware for extreme overclocking. Ad: Buy Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on Amazon (http://geni.us/gntgkryo) or Conductonaut Liquid Metal on Amazon (http://geni.us/gntgconductonaut) Article: https://www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/3316-evga-liquid-nitrogen-closed-loop-overclocking-roboclocker This is Kingpin's newest effort, in combination with TiN, to break overclocking world records with innovative cooling techniques. The Roboclocker uses inlet manifolds and exit manifolds to filter-in liquid nitrogen to a CPU and GPU block, which are fed LN2 via valves within the system. The valves are controlled by relays internally, which are further controlled by a Raspberry Pi and thermocouples. This semi-open liquid nitrogen loop allows for easy recycling of LN2, speeds-up overclocking, and enables high scores with less manual effort. It's sort of autonomous, in that way, and uses relays to open and close valves to hit a temperature target. We have a new GN store: https://store.gamersnexus.net/ Like our content? Assassination Attempt on AMD by Viceroy Research & CTS Labs

This is somewhat distantly familiar to Meltdown, but handled less professionally and with some questionable motives. The researchers label Masterkey, Ryzenfall, Fallout, and Chimera as exploits against Ryzen architecture. We believe these claims to be blown out of proportion. Although there may be actual security concerns, the presentation and professionalism as handled by CTS Labs is way overblown, and Viceroy Research gladly claims its own economic incentives pertaining to AMD's performance in the stock market. Announcing the GN Anti-Static Modmat

02:09
Pre-order the GN Anti-Static Modmat here: https://store.gamersnexus.net/modmat The GamersNexus Modmat is a high-quality, anti-static modmat that *includes* a common ground point, a grounding strap, and a ring terminal at the wall, which allows for grounding of the mat and the user straight into a grounding socket. The ring loops around the grounding pin, connects to the ground point, and then a banana plug connects to the user. Our mat also has a multi-color custom paint job, and runs 4-feet by 2-feet, with a 2mm thick rubberized surface. The surface protects the underlying table and the components. Although we did not intend for the mat to be used as a mousing surface, it could be done -- it's just a mix between 'grippy' and 'smooth,' as the surface is textured. This is primarily a work surface, and is something we anticipate being used for mods and PC builds. Our factory also makes clean room products, and was selected specifically for their high-quality, anti-static materials and ability to paint a custom finish. Pre-orders will help us gauge demand, as this is an expensive product to make and is being initially made in limited quantities. We will ramp-up production to meet pre-orders, then will continue production after launch. We intend to begin shipment in late January/early February, 2018. Like our content? GN Undercover: AMD's Boot Kit for Raven Ridge & Support Review

10:13
We go undercover to get the AMD boot kit for Raven Ridge, reviewing the support team and warranty process along the way. We've done this in the past for SIs, and are back again. Ad: CableMod PRO ModMesh sleeved cables on Amazon (https://goo.gl/T28tMi) Just a simple video reviewing the (surprisingly pleasant and easy) process of obtaining and using a Raven Ridge boot kit, useful for flashing motherboard BIOS to a version that supports Raven Ridge APUs. We found the support process to be painless and relatively quick, with only about 9 days between initial service request and receiving a resolution. Considering shipping is involved in between, as was a weekend, this was great support overall. AMD has taken a somewhat large concern -- potentially unwitting customers buying boards with incompatible BIOS -- and implemented a solution which is accessible to its customers. Job well done on this one. We have a new GN store: https://store.gamersnexus.net/ Like our content? Ask GN 47: Multitasking vs Gaming Perf, X300 ITX

21:21
This episode of Ask GN visits topics of multitasking while gaming (and FPS impact), GPU binning, Ryzen binning, and heatpipe count vs. size. Thanks to our Patreon backers for the help: https://goo.gl/Z9ABza Timestamps: 1:13: Cool Andromeda data 1:54 Paraphrasing Zeta: User: "I'd like to know if the heatpipe count or surface area matters more on an air cooler. For example [assume all else is equal], more heatpipes of smaller size or fewer heatpipes of larger size - which is better?" 6:06 Surpuppa: "Question for next Ask GN or an idea for an entire episode: How does multitasking affect game performance? If I have a few chrome tabs, a stream, skype, discord, steam and battlenet etc open at the same time, is my performance affected much? Maybe see how Ryzen can combat this with its many cores?" 9:49 Omar Bahaa: "When a company is selling the same exact GPU with different factory overclocks for a price premium, do they have the same overclocking headroom (neglecting silicon lottery) or are they binned? I am asking about the normal not like the known to be binned KINGPIN cards. In my case I'm specifically looking for the XFX RX 480 GTR, one version runs at 1288 MHz and the other runs at 1338 MHz for $20 price premium (MSRP)?" 14:29 Comanso Rowlett: "How does Ryzen chip binning work? I can barely see a difference when overclocking all 3 of the R7 line up, so what's different apart from the price tag? Is this to do with ASIC quality?" 18:37 Ethan Lauchman: "will evga make amd video card?" 19:23 Orion Agappe: "Where are the AM4 X300 Mobos?" 20:04 Ata Vax: "can you do benchmarks with old overclocked 2600k and 3770k and compare them to stock 6700k and 7700k in gaming benchmarks to show how feasible it is to overclock your old CPU to compete with new ones? I know my 4.8Ghz 2600k outperforms a stock 6700k in CPUZ's benchmark, but would like to see how they compare in real gaming benchmarks." Like our content? Fake GPU Scam & How They Did It - "1GB GTX 1050" Benchmark

Lian Li's factory gave us an opportunity to see exactly how PC cases are made, something we've previously seen at In Win and NZXT facilities in Taiwan and China, respectively. Chinese and Taiwanese factories handle most of the industry's manufacturing, including manufacturing for motherboards, GPUs, coolers, and more. For Lian Li, its operation has been expanding and improving in the quality of machines used, alongside growth of the level of automation for the factory. Lian Li is well-known for the O11 Dynamic and O11 Air (made in China), its table chassis, Bora fans, and more. We have a new GN store: https://store.gamersnexus.net/ Like our content? We talk about SSD & memory price volatility with David Kanter of Real World Tech, one of the industry's most technical analysts. Ad: Thermaltake View 37 on Amazon https://goo.gl/WYbHRB SSD prices have begun to stabilize, but memory prices are still kind of crazy -- as evidenced by the new Class Action lawsuit against Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. Consolidation of Flash towards 64-layer VNAND has helped in this tremendously, and is something we talk with David Kanter about in this video.
